WHAT IS THE VISION OF AMERICA TODAY?

I located a couple bits of inspiration today at Sturbridge Antiques: a 1932 colored an illustrated booklet on Thomas A. Edison published by JOHN HANCOCK Life and President Kennedy's "To Turn The Tide" published in 1962.Both of these gems are revealing. Throughout his book "Mr. President" quotes people across the ages. I really liked Kennedy's style. He was happy being president and his infectious smile was most revealing.

With JOHN HANCOCK the big insurance company ceased handing out these instructions in Patriotism three decades ago or thereabouts. They exploit Hancock's autograph as their symbol and don't spread the seeds of patriotism with out school kids. Same with LIBERTY MUTUAL. The exploit the Statue of Liberty by filming ads at Battery Park. Sure, where is their Americanism?

John F. Kennedy said " Anone who is honestly seeking a job and can't find it deserves the attention of the United States Government and the people...." ..Our programs must aim ay expanding American productive capacity at a rate that shows the world the vigor and the vitality of a free economy."

Edison said "it's 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration."

So were we all going in this media blitz of candidates as we jump into February?  Watch the Debate Monday night and listen carefully. The words and language may surprise us all.
