NEW YORK YANKEES DEFEAT BOSTON!

The inconsistent Sox. Pray for rain!

A DAY OF BOOTING UP

Early in the day I called on Son Josh to help me with my dilemma ..Pulse 3 Speaker  versus LG Tablet. My miracle worker son at hand resolved the issue within a minute or so. "Did you ever drop it, Pops.? I sheepishly admitted to having it fall on the floor at the end of my ELVIS movie. "The Pulse has nothing to do with it". Isn't it nice to have smart kids. Grandson Chase looked on. Bingo. Fixed. Then Josh got my Atomic Clock set in record time.

Son Ben and wife Allison celebrate their 5th anniversary today. How nice. Card is in the mails.

Made a trip to Hadley to the Salvation Army with friend Nancy. This store is head and shoulders above all others I've seen. Ray Conniff music reigns supreme. The LB Collection is worth the trip

Stopped at Atkins in South Amherst. Wow. Then an Oriental  feast in Spencer. All in all it was a good day. Now it's to New York for a great game with the New York Yankees!

Two small pension checks arrive tomorrow September 1st. Spencer Fair and Warmer.

MAKE IT THREE IN A ROW FOR THE BOSTON RED SOX

The Red Sox have pulled out of their nosedive in a fine fashion sweeping the Toronto Blue Jays. Tomorrow at 7:05 Boston tackles the New York Yankees with a 5 1/2 game lead. I think the series is poised to be the best of the season. Go Sox!...

NEW MATRESSES AND BOX SPRINGS FOR A SONG

The Salvation Army offers new mattresses and box springs for only $140! Such a deal when most others at retail stores are much higher. I think I'll spring for a set. LOL.

"Picture These SAT WORDS.".. 200 in all.. brand new in the box. I think the grandkids will appreciate this word of encouragement as they begin the school year. Published by BARRONS it will be a winner for Chase, Lily and Maddie.

TIME OUT was a great cookout for the North Brookfield Seniors. Several ladies got lucky in winning at BINGO. It was cool but nice.

Now I'm having trouble with my Bluetooth connection. Last Night I savored a program on the life of ELVIS. Today I noticed a new $15 magazine on The King at Dollar General.

Last show of he year at Klems was a success. Big participation and attendance. Dick and Jimmy made for good company. I will miss our weekly get-together.

Spencer Fair-and Warmer coming up on Friday. First couple of days in Spencer look good. See you at the Fair!

One more thought on license plate bolts & nuts; get nylon ones and they'll last for 20 years and will never rust out!

RED SOX WIN!

Sorry, I was watching all about Elvis! Glad the Sox won! LOL.

WHY NOT TAKE SOME PRIDE?

After experiencing a wrenching removal of rusty nuts I have looked around at what's at hand with plates. A very high percentage of both license plates and nuts are rusting away. It seems nobody gives a hoot. But why? WD-40 just won't do.

Very expensive cars and trucks deserve some TLC.

Massachusetts License Plates can be replaced for ten bucks each!. A new plate is a new image. I am on my second pair. Gave Ben and Josh a plate for their garages and offices.

Enough said!

BLOG BLOG BLOG

It took 3 men to do a simple task. Me, Joey and Al Rock. Finally with trusty Vice Grips we prevailed over a rusty nut!

BOSTON IS BACK INTO THE WIN COLUMN

It ain't over until the Fat Lady sings! OMG I almost published my victory blog! Now it's 6-5 and Toronto is at bat. Are the Sox choking?

KIMBREL. 6-5 Final Boston wins!

A LATE AUGUST MONDAY

I got a lot done this Monday with a focus on Walmart-Ware. After reading the New York Times with a cup of decaf I went to Ware for some "Cheap Gas." Next stop was Walmart. My first assignment was replacing a black leather strap for a brown one. But first I peddled my exercise-mobile into a sweat. Boy, It takes discipline!

The watch lady was wonderful. A word of wisdom came in her comment" You an get a brand new watch for the price of a replacement battery! The Walmart watches glisten!

Next came a replacement Solar Digital Atomic Wall Clock. It took "Joey" at the Country Corner to get it ticking! I'll have Josh tweak it tomorrow.
Got some brass brads for my BLOGGER sign.

Lunch at the NM Senior Center was good. Sat with Sybil and Ginger as we chatted and enjoyed Macaroni & Cheese, etc. Good friends, nice ladies... then to the Dry Cleaners: 8 shirts for Friday. It pays to look sharp in my book.

Replacement BLOG plates sustains my desired image. The front plate went on like a breeze; the back one was impossible. Rusty.I spent over one half hour trying, but unsuccessful, to get it budge.I took a cotton swab and soaked it with motor oil..hopefully, over night.

Howards Cheeseburger, again. Saw friends Claire and Dick Taylor. They gave me the patriotic chair.

Now I tune into Toronto. The Red Sox better win!

RED SOX DIDN'T WIN.. JOHNSON DID

Another defeat for the Red Sox. UGH! I didn't hear of their loss until just now.Son Ben advised me. Sorry to say the loss. is horrible to our Red Sox souls. Down at the Connecticut Casinos it was a different story. It took Richard B. Johnson "hours" to strike it rich. Finally, he had a "double lit" with Pink Diamond slot which paid him handsomely. Thank you, Richard, You Da Man!

The ride back was circuitous. Un real..."Richard "I Never get Lost" Johnson! Amen!

A 308 LAKESIDE BIRTHDAY TREAT IN EAST BROOKFIELD

This August Sunday began with temperatures in the mid-forties. It is as normal as it gets this time of the year. The young ladies had sweaters on yet the family spirit was warm. We sat in the upper deck. The million dollar views of Lake Lashaway gave a wonderful purview looking north.. I cannot think of any other lakeside in the area offering what 308 Lakeside offers both inside and out.

My mind was set on Full Bellie Fried Clams. Josh had a Connie Mack Burger which was the topic of conversation. I explained to Little Lilly who Connie Mack was. Chase-boy was down stairs playing a video game until his Hot Dog came ala-carte.

To the point, my meal of fried clams were some of the best ever. The serving was huge and very hot as were the French Fries!

The overflow crowd is testimony to the restaurant's success. You don't have to travel far for a superior feast.

THREE STRIKES AND YOU'RE OUT BOSTON!

Wicked bad as the kids say. I'm loosing heart fast with the home team. But why? "SLUMP CITY!" Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?

Maybe, just maybe, the Boston Red Sox will pull it off?

Watching the Big Fight tonight? LOL. Final  Red Sox fall again!

JFK FIND

I got lucky and found 4 vintage Kennedy magazines at the local bookstore. I also found a keeper of "Barbara." Think I'll give it to Barbara! These LIFE magazines are so historic and so available!

THE VIRTUE OF DOING PUSHUPS

In watching Chase at Quaboag

soccer practice, the players having to do some pushups reminded me of my Basic Training days at Fort Knox 51 years ago. Wee we young full-blooded Americans responding to Sergeant Roy's command. "Give me 20, Potvin!"

If anything, many Millennials don't have a clue of what being in physical means. Not all, yet many truly are out of shape.

I think school-boy athletics including the ladies is truly wonderful. The Potvin girls are in the game too. I will pay closer attention with Maddie and Evelyn and Lily's participation in sports.

Speaking of sports, the Boston Red Sox are necrotic. How could a team fall so fast. Shape up or ship out!

We go to the 308 tomorrow!

Tonight it seems cold enough for frost! LOL.

Saw my friend Steve Magnante this morning. Gave Steve an article found in the New York Times on the Collector Car market.

Exercise bike is good. The key is not over doing it.

Called Johnson regarding my birthday plans. Smart move.

THE TRIBE SLAUGHTERED THE SOX IN CLEVELAND

Nothing about the game was inspirational. How could the Boston Red Sox fail as they did?

It was a bust day for me between chores. Had my Honda serviced. At 221,100 miles it purrs like a kitten. Granted I try to keep the car in top shape and I think it shows.

Saw the grandkids briefly at supper time.

My exercise bike is fun. It will require a certain discipline.

Weather forecast looks great right through the weekend. SonJosh turns 43 on Saturday. Evelyn, age 4, maybe tomorrow?

Back to Boston tomorrow at 5:30 for Baltimore.

Gotta get out of this one game nosedive.

RED SOX RED SOX RED SOX

A wonderful 6-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians. Now the Sox are 20 games over 500. The hose ae making their mark, I do say. This is good for the New England spirit. One game at a time should reveal a Pennant and World Championship.. one day at a time.

The Klem Collector car show was good. I sat with friend Jimmy K.

The ham luncheon at the NBSC was above average. Company was good. Didn't stay for the entertainment.

A good day, indeed.

RED SOX SCALP INDIANS

It was all Boston. How nice. 9-1

Donald Trump is like the Duracell Bunny. He has been rambling on for more than an hour. If I were his speech teacher the guy would get a D+. Give it up Mr. President!

WHEEL OF FORTUNE,, A NOSE RING AND A PLETHORA OF TATTOOS AND RED HAIR

"The incidence of tattoos among millennials as well as gen Xers is so widespread as to be almost mainstream. Thirty-six percent of Millennials and 40% of Gen X have at least one tattoo and many have multiples."

Tonight's Wheel was so revealing. Accept it. Extremism is in my friends. I'm getting used to it!

So much for ink under the skin!

I now own an exercise bike thanks to my friend Barbara. I have it in my front office and have worked up 4 sweats. Exercise is something I miss. Now the bike should help me.

Had an incredible roast  beef dinner at the NBSC. (Of course I admit to Black Raspberry ice cream at Howards Drive In. First time in a month.

Now we turn to the Boston Red Sox.... we'll see!

INDIANS SCALP RED SOX

Sloppy-ball...

ECLIPSE

Watching the solar eclipse on television was great. Watching the eclipse from Birch Hill was fun. Son Josh and I spent the better part of two hours discussing the penumbra. My solar glasses were good. Chase and company enjoyed the eclipse at his friends, the Waz party. Heidi took a picture of Chase and sent it to Josh. Seven years from now New England will be in the path of the next total eclipse... near 100%!

The price of gasoline is going up.$2.29 in Sturbridge.

Trump-the-President will be on at 9:00 PM. The Boston Red Sox will be on in thirty minutes. The meal at the NBSC was so so! Tomorrow should be better.

Had my Cheeseburger at Howards.

Charlene Whitman's posted Facebook  "Total Eclipse" pix is impressive!

GET READY TO ATTEND THE WORLD SERIES

My highlight of raising Ben and Josh was in taking them to the St. Louis Cardinal World Series! The experience was surreal.

Mr. Gowen, Quaboag teacher, was delighted. "All I ask you to do is write about your experiences" and boy did they have a story to tell.

We flew from Logan Airport  to Lambert Field. We stayed in a nondescript motel in across the Mississippi River in Illinois.

How thee arch was built in sections

RED SOX WIN, AGAIN!

Nice way to end series.

It has been a wonderful week of Major League baseball. The Red Sox seem to be  a team of destiny. Their bats are hot and their pitching is good.

Jerry Remy, announcer of 30 years is a class act. Both management and the fans responded accordingly. Rem Dog liked the Big Screen TV.

The festivities were reminiscent of the days when Babe Ruth and Lou Gerig were honored.

This Sunday was a beauty. "Dirty laundry" set the day off then a visit to Son Josh and grandkids was interesting. They were pruning small branches along the stone wall. I sat in my red and white and blue chair for an hour in delight. Then Chase said "I will now your lawn now, Pops."

I'm hip to the ways of the Red Sox. I think they have the momentum. How about you?

YANKEES DEFEAT RED SOX

Sox fall to Yankees 4-3

TASER TAG FOR KIDS

It was a "No Johnson Saturday." Son Josh polished my Honda and we laughed. I goofed by not going to the Sheriff's Picnic.

Tony and Lori Piazzo had a novel toy everybody enjoyed by kids: Taser Toy - a 3-D gun. Unbelievable. Pictures say all.

Red Sox are behind 3-2.  We must believe. LOL

MAKE NO BONES ABOUT IT...THE SOX ARE HOT!

It was another come from behind victory against the New York Yankees. Boston 9  New York 6. How sweet it is.

YAWKEY WAY FOREVER

For the past 12 years or so I have been obtaining health care at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. The Yawkey name is synonymous with giving. Without the munificence of  Tom and Jean Yawkey Boston just wouldn't be the same.

Any attempt to change The Yawkey Way name will be stupid.Tom Yawkey was team owner and a good man. Super Star Carl Yastrzemski was like a son to Mr. Yawkey. The team's cellar position wasn't Yawkey's fault.

I think it's short-sighted for John Henry change names. Henry should change his attitude! Someday John Henry's name may appear on Jersey Street. In the mean time it's "Play Ball." Forget the name change.

THURSDAY'S ECLIPSE EYEGLASSES HIGHLIGHT

It was all about Chase, Evelyn and Madeline and the Solar Eclipse glasses obtained from the NB Senior Center. My grandkids caught on to the idea of next Monday's Solar Eclipse. Today, I brought a sheet of the Forever Stamps bought from Tony P portraying  the solar image and the kids caught on. They went outside and sported the glasses. I showed them the path and Chase commented "his cousins Gage and Gavin will be in the path in South Carolina. All kids looked at the sun in amazement. I told them of the sun being 93 million miles away!

Earlier, Evelyn shucked some corn... then she began to eat an ear or two uncooked. I followed suit showing Evie how I could eat uncooked corn with my dentures. We laughed.

My Smart Phone was the delight of the moment. Mickey Mouse Club House was Evelyn's choice for a long time. She is so beautiful and intense with  curiosities.

Earlier in the day I visited the Haston Library for information about the Triple Murder on January 19, 1900.It is so bad. Interested history buffs should go to the History Room and read the North Brookfield Journal...Martin Burgin.

My car insurance with Arbela is now paid for the year!

Enjoying my new Pulse 3. Today I discovered "Sounds of the Symphony!" Gotta mix up life, you know. Now I go to You Tube for the rest of the story.

SOX SEND CARDINALS BACK TO ST. LOUIS

Mookie is playing like a champion! Your Boston Red Sox are playing like World Champions. Keep it up Bosox!

PAGEVIEWS TO THE SECOND: 100,002

I suppose 100,000 page views is with meaning. Well, it is! On a daily basis I have you in mind and the response of my viewers is heartfelt. Any ideas? Names? Locations?  Go for it.

Triple Murder in January of 1900 Bergen killed wife and 2 kids!

SAY HI TO SHIRLEY WAYTINA - AGE 92!

Nonagenarians have taken on a new meaning now that many of my esteemed friends are
Shirley Waytina
age 90 or above. Better yet, many seniors continue to live independently, many in Senior Housing. This is the case of Shirley Waytina, a long time employee of Frank Cooke, Inc. in North Brookfield, Mass.

Our wonderful visit allowed both of us to talk about the good old days, family and friends. For 48 years Mrs. Waytina served as Executive Secretary, Shirley is mother if Jean who lives in Florida and is widow to Stanley Waytina. But her time with Cooke Optical is far reaching.

Not only for the Cooke Optical Enterprise,  Shirley Wayina kept the books for the Cooke Real Estate Enterprise but for the Vintage Garage where antique American Rolls Royce were repaired! "Mr. Cooke was a brilliant mind enjoying the Works of William Shakespeare and Lord Byron."

Shirley Waytina is a lady of integrity She believes in the Golden Rule! I have known Shirley since 1962 and like her style. She still calls me "Bobby" and our August visit tells me Shirley will live beyond age 100! The one caveat of most folks over 90 is the nemesis ARTHRITIS. Shirley takes Tylenol + Most importantly  has a winning smile. Keep going Shirley, my dear friend!

MONTOVANI INSTEAD OF TELEVISION!

My new Pulse 3 speaker is already paying me dividends. Didn't even turn on the television tonight. Instead  I savor in Mantovani's Blue Tango! I have been polyphasing with my keyboard as the Boss Man serenades me. Try it.. you'll like it! PULSE 3!

ME AND PIANIST FLOYD CRAMER

My new Bluetooth Pulse 3 speaker arrived this afternoon. After fooling around with it unsuccessfully I brought this state of the art baby to Josh as I have confidence in his abilities. Within minutes JB had Lawrence Welk beaming. I cheered. "Easy for you... difficult for me." The secret was I was attempting to put a square peg in a round hole!

With music at hand, I spent more an hour in the confines of my breezeway with Floyd Cramer, pianist streaming..

Earlier in the day it was lunch at the North Brookfield Senior Center and the company of the "Merry Widows."

My new green trousers are ready in Ware. Tomorrow I travel to Worcester for a 9:30 AM appointment.

I did polish about 40 % of my shiny black Honda. It makes a statement!

Bluetooth Personified  Pulse 3. $199.00

TIME TO POLISH MY BLACK HONDA ACCORD

I have been out of practice for the last year or two when it comes to detailing my automobiles. Voila. I found a near-full plastic bottle of MOTHERS Brazilian Carnauba Cleaner Wax the other day. Just now I did a sample polish and have decided "it's time."

Detailing an automobile is a reflection of your pride. Some folks  just don't get it. Now is a good time for the winter that lies ahead. Maybe NAPA sells polish cloths? If not I have a bunch of old skiffs that will do. LOL.

I had a lady back into my rear at the Warren Laundromat. Bam. Bumper to bumper. No backache, no problem.

The Red Sox are getting shelled after last night's win. Last night's game was awesome. The homerun was outstanding even if I was in the kitchen
.

Son Josh just left. Nice to have a visit.

North Brookfield Senior Center today, tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday breakfast. Tri-Valley doesn't excite me.

Get ready for the Total Eclipse of

SOX WIN IN 10 INNINGS

In your face Yankee fans! I was in the kitchen when the fantastic homerun was hit. Horay.
