JUDGE NEIL GORSUCH NOMINATED BY TRUMP

Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States seem to be quite "clubby" in their Ivy League credentials. I favored the underdog, the man who worked his way through Norte Dame University driving a cab. Didn't happen.

Oh, well, we all can't be Ivy Leaguers.

Neil Gorsuch is a farmer in his hobby raising horses, etc. Pretty bright guy.
 according to Wikipedia.

MY DISDAIN FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY

Little Stevie Wonder's song "I Just Called To Say I Love You" is a perfect way to describe my January. The month was forever despite little snow. Today was full of a light powder and cold. Where the heck could a guy go?

The Weather Channel has thrown out their warnings for February: SNOW. IT SEEMS THERE'S ROMANCE IN A VALLENTINE'S DDAY BLIZZARD don't you think? Everything about February is good compared to January.

Son Josh made a good point this morning skipping ahead to Daylight Savings the first week in March. Isn't there an old adage about March coming in like a lion? Man, I think that best describes our new President! Is he wild, or what?

I ran into my surviving aunt of almost 90 at the NB post office espousing the fact "The Whole World is Wild." Hasn't always been that way?

PETIJOHN'S BREAKFAST FOOD BOX

Estate auctions of yesteryear afforded many treasures not found today.

In 1986 I auctioned off a wood box with a paper label for an amazing $150. The advertising was amazing ' PETIJOHN'S BREAKFAST FOOD  FOR THOSE WHO ARE AS HUNGRY AS A BEAR!" How many of us are as hungry as a bear?

Little Red Who? LOL

A COLD, NONDESCRIPT ENDING TO JANUARY COMING UP!

There's a shimmer of hope on the horizon...more daylight! Tomorrow ends it all for January, 2017. Thank God. Although snow has not been abundant, the penetrating cold has. Maybe it's just me?

The highlight of my Monday was the wonderful care I received at the Worcester VA. From nurse Tara to Doctor Sanjay, these women made this old soldier feel good. Also, X-ray tech Lynn zapped both feet then I was given a "101"how today's technologies work. Amazing! Then I saw an image of my right foot!

Fifty years later I cling onto my Vietnam memories.. mostly good. Twelve months and twelve days essentially matured my young  life. Taking x-rays for 5 doctors and 2 dentists was a prestigious assignment, indeed.

The International News of this day is disheartening to me. So much unrest. why is our world the way it is?

I see where 92 year old president George H.W. Bush is going to the Super Bowl! Mr. Bush should be on the cover of AARP Magazine!

My discoveries on the Potvin Surname surprise me. I am listed and will leave it at that. LOL.

I see where Steven T. Mnuchin's autograph will be appearing on millions upon missions of future U.S. currency. Isn't he the guy who "forgot to claim $100 Million" on his application for Treasurer of the Secretary job? Yea, right! I bet you didn't know you can buy sheets of uncut dollar bills from the Bureau of Printing and Engraving!? Larger sheets will be available to collectors for the first time.

I happen to collect all varieties of money. Money and I don't get along....we are always parting separate ways. "Hey, big spender!" As Wayne Cook says 'It's only money!"

Big snow storm may be in the works in a week! Computer models are feed the meteorologists on the possible portending problematic hype! OK G00gle!

TRUMP'S 2 COUNTERPUNCHES: TWITTER & FACEBOOK

President Trump truly is on the world's stage as no other President ever was. The Donald is glissading over so many issues as if he were roller skating, ice skating and better yet steamrolling! Ain't no body to catch our prexcy.

All the kings horses and all the kings men are of a bygone era. Now our beloved social medias reign supreme. Want to write a blog? Go ahead. Want to post pictures.. go ahead. Freedom of the press has new meaning. The beloved internet is faster than a speeding bullet.

Trump is his own man despite the critics-at-large. Aren't all presidents prevaricators?  Trump's powers are massive. He has been in training for a lifetime. Daddy "nipped The Donald's ears as a boy." Now little Baron is a 'prince in training.'

I interviewed a son of a President in 1978. John Coolidge gave me an hour of his time and some keen insights into the presidency! Was it different in 1924? I don't know. Surely Silent Cal didn't have but one dashboard.. that of his Pierce Arrow. LOL

I enjoy living in New England as we are so rich in Presidential History. From the Adams to the Bushes and Kennedys and Coolidges we are never in want looking for heroes.

Boston, The Hub of the Universe, affords all kinds of patriots including The New England Patriots. The seasons come and the seasons go and "Give'm Hell Donald" should have the media earning their pay. It is a refreshing rush of warm air from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!

ROLLS ROYCE OF SPRINGFIELD

'Rolls Royce of Springfield was a venture that was never financially successful." These massive iron machines played on status for the wealthy. Under 3,000 cars were made in a 10 year period and two magnificent specimens survive today in the Springfield Museums.

Silver Ghosts came first, all 1,100 of them then 1,844 Phantoms. These automobiles were perhaps the sequel of today's Tesla. The Rolls Royce Owners Club of America separates the "men from the boys." I was a boy when introduced to Rolls Royce.

Today, auto museums seem sparse compared to auto museums of my youth. The Princeton Auto Museum in Princeton, Mass, was a father-son delight in the late 40s and early 50s. We didn't have much money growing up yet we enjoyed the millions of Mr. Garganigo on display. Visiting the museum never got stale and I even traveled to the hills in 1958 for more.

Today I returned to Springfield. It seems Springfield is the taproot of automotive invention and improvement. The name Duryea pushed horses and trains aside. Horseless buggies changed our world forever. To look at a 1925 Rolls Royce next to a sleek 'mobile of 2017, makes for good conversation.

Any antique automobile enthusiast deserves to tale a trip to Springfield and all the displays of "yesterday" in order to gain perspective on tomorrow. WOW!

A WORK OF ART! BLOG

MY OWN LITTLE WORLD at 74.5

As I approach the bewitching hour of January 29th I delight in the security of myself. Flipping channels with the remote is a remote form of satisfaction. No matter where I turn I don't like it. HSN coin huckster leads me to wonder. Having been enthused with old coins for over 50 years I wonder! To me "old coins" are old coins not government packaged goods from 1960. Rare Coins should be just that.

My sister Jan called an hour with news of niece at Brighams & Womens Hospital with some extremely serious health problems.

Chase had another wonderful basketball game today at WBES.

Let us have lettuce every day. Paul Newman's dressings are delightful.

Seems I spend money like it is water. But why? Phase II of the monthly stipend comes in on or about February 1st. With clean laundry I'll " clothes"
for now! LOL.

SERGEANT PRESTON OF THE YUKON

The classical overture, Donna Diana, sparkles in my boyhood memories. The Yukon Huskie and the Canadian Mountie brought us happiness when television was in its infancy.

MY GROWING CLASSICAL MIND

Isn't it nice to be growing instead of growing old! It is far better to wear out than rust out as one  mentor related 20 years ago.

The classics are far more than a series of books as I see it. Every American city and the world reveal architecture of the past. Horology, philately, numismatics in particular embrace beauty. These disciplines can tweak our thought processes.

One of my favorite is the Worcester, MA Auditorium. Also, every building in Washington, DC has charm. I have seen it in dealing in antique furniture for decades. Of recent times I have ratcheted-up my music appreciation. Sure I still like Buddy Holly and Billy Joel, and the available Light Classical gives me peace and quiet as I blog away to my heart's content.

Earlier today, while at the American Antiquarian Society, Salisbury Street, Worcester I queried about autographs and library science as a profession ( not for me but for a young lady.)

First, an incredible book printed in 1886 "The Story of a Great Nation, Or , Our Country's achievements, military, naval, political, and Civil!"This is a 5 star publication of the time. Wonderful to have the resources of the AAS.

I got guidance on the librarian profession which I'll pass on. Thanks. Also, my friend Elizabeth, Curator of Books, responded to my knock on her closed door. How lucky can I be!?

The old saying "The best things in life are free" and yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus!

"THE ONLY EVIDENCE OF LIFE IS GROWTH."  So how are you growing?...Deeper in debt? LOL
