A COOL SUNDAY IN LATE JULY

Hopefully the heat and humidity are behind us. Today was a peach of a day. I did food shopping in NB after reading the Sunday Times. I was greeted by Rene' Jurczik while in the market. She is a dear friend dating back to the days when Ben was her paperboy on Roy Terrace, WB. Today Rene' is branch manager in EB. Saw Chase at Ronnie & Chrissies. Josh mowed the lawn and I watched the Red Sox lose in 11 innings. As Atty Jim Nolan of Ware once said 'It's only a game!!'

A DIFFERENT KIND OF 81ST BIRTHDAY

My 81st birthday was different. Sister Jan called early and a call from Chase and later Ben followed. Josh delivered my clean laundry which was put away. The weather was transitional i.e. cloudy and rain later on. We got 1.60 inches according to my Rain Station. Josh called later in the afternoon inviting me to go to Barre to the Stone Cow Brewery.. We then returned to WB where Chase presented my with a Bentley University blue polo shirt and a pair of patriotic slippers. The Sox are trailing SF 1-0 in the fifth. Happy Birthday Pops!

RELIEF FROM THE HEAT & HUMIDITY

Weight 158lbs My adjusting the temperature setting on the new air-conditioner and fixing my sheet and bedding gave me a "perfect" night's sleep! There were not any storms today but the bright sunshine and high humidity made up for it. I sought relief just by lounging in the "Poodle." Josh took my dirty  clothes and it should be cleaned tomorrow. I re-discovered RFD-TV and Jimmy Sturr Polka Show. Haven't enjoyed it in many months. Ate a fish sandwich at the Legion and enjoyed the visit of Jeff Nickerson.

A THURSDAY OF AJUSTMENT

This Thursday was one of getting used of having an air-conditioner again, I over-dressed then under-dressed. By making a tight bed my hopes are tonight will be more comfortable.  I received two birthday cards in anticipation of the 29th. We had a day of thunder showers. My Rain Station registered .07. Tonight things have cleared and the western sky is beautiful. No Sox game tonight.

MY RAIN STATION HAS A BRAIN!

With two separate thunderstorms and downpours the La Crosse Rain Station recorded 0.47 inches of rain then corrected itself to 0.0 inches. Later in the afternoon we had a second storm dumping 0.31 inches! At night regardless of the rainfall it corrects itself to 0.00 before morning.  I had a relaxing Tuesday. My new air-conditioner is giving me comfort.I will sleep with a jacket. Watched Olivia at the Sydney Opera House once more enjoying a bag of popcorn.I think the Sox game will be rained out?

MY PERFECT SATURDAY

I began my Saturday by driving to Staples in Sturbridge  and spending $138.11 for four 952 cartridges for my printer. The four cartridges are for Magenta, Cyan, Yellow and XL Black. Installed, everything is great again. The next order of business in playing deference to the Late Tony Bennett.  His obituary in the New York Times is extensive. In addition to "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" are"Just In Time,,""Rags to Riches,"I Wanna Be Around" and others. The Sox lost the first game with the Mets and are trailing in the second game. Not good!

A tornado warning was posted for Northern Worcester County.I prepared some more memos for the New Leader.Ate supper at the Legion -a fish sandwich..excellent! Sox are trailing the Mets 4-3 and it is raining. Doubt if they get the game in?

A BEAUTIFUL THURSDAY

Today was the best in weeks.I didn't pay attention to my malfunctioning window air conditioner until Josh discovered there was ICE in it. The unit was removed so now I will rely on a high-speed fan for now. I sat out in the hot sun for about 20 minutes. Cancelled my appointment in cardiology. Don't feel I need any attention in this manner.SOX are off today.

GRAND SLAM YOSHIDA

A RELAXING SATURDAY IN JULY

My Saturday was spent indoors. My task was to prepare the dirty laundry for pick-up and replenish 8 days of pills in my cady. It all worked out and watching the Red Sox lose wasn't fun. Their winning streak ended in Chicago.  No rain today. The Allante' seemed to run ok when I got the newspaper.

MY WIRELESS RAIN STATION WORKS!

The early downpour sets the state for this Friday. It was the second most torrential downpour of this month. I was surprised to see the rain station  working. We received about an inch and a quarter. It corrects itself and amazes me  Once the skies cleared I drove to North Brookfield and spent $60.00 at Hannaford. I then drove the Allante' checking it for the road problems reporting it to Howletts. I will return the beginning of the  week.Did go to the Legion. A small crowd. Had potato chips. Must change my meal next week! Sox are leading the Cubs 2-0.

The hype of this day was the Home Run Derby.I didn't watch it but enjoyed watching the re-run. After food shopping I get a call from Josh saying "Your car is ready." Howletts Auto Repair replaced the fuel pump and other repairs. The total cost is $401.03 which I paid. Next I sent "One Lucky Soldier"  to the Army Historical Foundation, Washington, DC..I feel this is the place..I am a member and should be hearing from them soon. The other concern is 4 purple spots on my right hand. Any ideas?

A FOURTH OF JULY OF DOWNPOURS AND SUNSHINE

It was a Fourth of downpours and sunshine. Baseball captured my interest of both The Red Sox and Yankees. The Sox lost to Texas and the Yankees defeated the Orioles.I called Josh who invited me over to his house and when I arrived I noticed his boat was missing as was his Dodge RAM. I surmised he and his family was on Lake Wickaboag? Tonight I watched A Capitol Fourth and enjoyed the tribute to Neil Diamond. I'm satisfied with this holiday of downpours and sunshine!
