HUMP DAY IN THE BROOKFIELDS

This Wednesday had a slow start for me. I knew my pill cady needed replenishing so I filled a week's supply and ordered one prescription from the VA. As I left the Poodle my bag of clean laundry was seen in the breezeway. It was a big selection and was put away by noon. My reading of Iacocca  seemed to not be important for me today. Tonight I watched Big East basketball.Xavier versus St. John's.Xavier dominated the boards in the whole game.

SETON HALL DEFEATS DEPAUL 72-39

Seton Hall men's basketball rebounded by defeating DePaul 72-39. I watched the entire game and was relieved to see Kadary Richmond #1. back in the lineup. Now The Hall has a week to rest being their next game is next Wednesday. Today I read another 100 pages on Lee Iacocca  am pleased to learn more about a man who lived to be age 94.Wikipedia has a comprehensive summary of this man's life."If you can find a better car, but it!" IACOCCA - AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY

This entitled book was located at the Hannaford book session. The title grabbed me last week and was still there today. The price was $2.00! Coming home this book got all of my attention. I was intrigued by his message and I have read 99 pages today. This Italian-American tells a story about his climb to the top at Ford. Better yet Lee tells how the Mustang captured the minds of Americans and the World. I will complete reading  "IACOCCA AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY" in a day or two.

A SNOWY SUNDAY IN MID-JANUARY

We began the week with snow needing plowing. Today we saw snow return, enough to cancel Little Evie's  basketball game. We got about 2-3 inches then it turned to rain.. then back to snow.My discovery today is a full page feature on Trading Cards in the New York Times.  I read it carefully as both Ben and Josh should be apprised of its content.  Tonight it was Jolly Time Popcorn and orange juice. Tomorrow I travel to Hannaford NB with a listing of food. Seton Hall men's play on Tuesday against DePaul at 9:00 pm on FS1. This Sunday was quiet but good!

A CRUSHING DEFEAT FOR SETON HALL MEN'S BASKETBALL

It seems The Hall is at a loss without Kadary Richmond. This 6'6" Guard has missed 3 games without any explanation of what's going on? The game against Marquette seemed plausible for a victory trailing by `1 at the Half? Then Marquette 'exploded' with a final game of 75 to 57.  Something's gotta give? Watching basketball games rounded out my Saturday. More Dr. Wayne Dyer and more Jolly Time popcorn  and orange juice. My Saturday in January was complete!

MY QUIET FRIDAY

It was a quiet Friday for me. The gist of my day saw me watching Dr. Wayne Dyer.I take his messages to heart and highly recommend all readers to check him out! Spoke with Chase Robert at Bentley. It was a visit to the American  Legion which was, too, very quiet. I enjoyed a cheese burger deluxe and a visit from Carol Slater. The weather today was a bummer.. rain, fog as all week has been. Seton Hall versus Marquette tomorrow at 1:00 pm on FS1.Go Pirates!

BOB POTVIN WEATHER HISTORIAN

The New England weather has been front burner for me since I was in the eighth grade! The late Boston weatherman, Don Kent, inspired me to watch and listen to his forecasts on a daily basis. My boyhood bedroom reveals instruments to include an anemometer, barometer, indoor-outdoor thermometer.Further I have many writings covering snowstorms and other weather events. My interests continued  while working on the summit of Mt. Washington in the summer of 1963.As a blogger the evidence is major weather are covered. Lately I have discovered FOX WEATHER on Channel 160. I relay on the Weather Channel and Pete Bouchard in Boston. For a while I was a weather watcher for Springfield Television Evin Rubin. There are digital instruments in the Poodle. If it's my curiosity each day,  weather watching is an important routine.

THE COLDEST DAY OF THE NEW YEAR - 5 ABOVE ZERO

This Monday saw the thermometer register 5 above zero. It was a slow start for me however I got the newspapers, mail and went to Hannaford.NB spent about $40 and came home. I misplaced my Smart phone and looked everywhere to no avail. Josh came by and found it in my Honda! He also gave me a pictorial history of Seton Hall University. I reviewed it twice and was disappointed not to see a picture of P.J. Carlisimo. Listened to WJMJ.FM for a while. I was glued to this station for years then about 2 years ago I stopped listening to it.  Tomorrow's New Hampshire Primary results will be interesting. Temperature now at 8:30 PM is 32 degrees.

NIKKI HALEY FOR PRESIDENT

As a Vietnam veteran, father of two sons and 5 grandchildren the future of America is at hand. Nikki Haley offers the USA a distinct choice. Haley is educated and is abreast of the world about us. Her credentials have great merit. This 'Made in China" syndrome is obvious in all things made equal. I say "Enough!"

AN EPIC GAME FOR THE PIRATES

This game saw the Seton Hall Pirates struggling for a win. Neither team (Creighton or Seton Hall) could find the key to a victory. It took Creighton three ties to come up with a win - 97-94! The Hall hopefully will get some recognition  for their noble effort! Today was the coldest yet with a morning reading of 9 degrees above zero. Tomorrow may best this reading? Once more I spent my afternoon watching more of Dr. Wayne Dyer.I enjoyed my popcorn and orange juice for supper. Brr!

MY BUSY FRIDAY

Between getting the newspapers, shopping at Hannaford NB, checking my mailbox and watching Dr. Wayne Dyer my Friday was good. I keep learning from Dr.Dyer and that's good. Tonight it was going to the Legion and visiting with Son Josh. It was a cheeseburger with all the fixings. Jeff Nickerson  stopped by as did Carl Slater. Tomorrow at noon it will be the Pirates of Seton Hall versus Creighton at Noon on FS1.  Should be a good game.

A VERY COLD WEDNESDAY IN THE BROOKFIELDS

It was a slow start for me after watching the Pirates victorious over St. Johns. My afternoon was spent watching Dr.Wayne Dyer on YouTube. His message is inspirational and I highly recommend my viewers watching it! My latest discovery on weather is watching Fox Weather - channel 160. MY HOLIDAY MONDAY

I was in attendance to hear Martin Luther King, Jr. speak in the gym at West Pine Blvd ! The gist of MLK's speech was when I saw my janitor beaming with approval as we left the gym. Today I watched a complete biography of MLK,Jr. on YOUTUBE. Today's anticipation of another snow storm and cold weather if fore front. Maybe 3-5 inches of snow. Earlier in the day I filled pills in my cady for 5 days.St.John's Seton Hall tomorrow on FS1 at 8:30 PM. My holiday Monday was good.

A COLD JANUARY SUNDAY

Winter is back! Today I spent putting my clean laundry back in the drawers and closet. I has 2 naps today which is unusual for me.I guess the Winter blues have caught up to me? I watched Wayne Dyer for quite a time. His messages and philosophy are good and I repeat 'Watch Wayne Dyer!" Next it was Obama Presidency on Frontline . No Comment. A frontal system crossed the Brookfields leaving a couple inches of the white stuff.Tomorrow is a Federal Holiday remembering Martin Luther King, Jr.King spoke at St. Louis University and I was within 3 feet of the Reverend Doctor!

SETON HALL MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Pirates of Seton Hall Men's basketball team are showing some outstanding games with 4 wins! They are 5-1 in Big East standings. Today's 78-72 victory over Butler should give the Hall some standing in Monday's  ratings. The victory inspires me to say 'Go Pirates'. The next game will be against St. John's on Tuesday. In weather reporting a cold-front passed during the afternoon.Buckle up We may see some snow this week?

ANOTHER GOOD FRIDAY

Today I returned to the Worcester VA for another blood draw. What was interesting was the spirited discussion of Presidential politics with son Josh.It made the visit quick. On the way home we endured a funeral procession like we've never seen... Maybe 100 cars in the procession. The lead vehicles bore New York license plates. I sported a wash job for Josh's RAM truck at Pepin's in Leicester- $20. Went to the Quaboag Book Shop looking for books on Wayne Dyer. No luck. Tomorrow Seton Hall faces Butler at noon on FS1. Stay tuned.

WAYNE DYER

I have been a student of Wayne Dyer since my mid-thirties! His best selling  book "Your Erroneous Zones" changed my way of thinking. I recommend you log onto 'Wayne Dyer" for a great resource of thought! Tonight it was Maddie Potvin's basketball game at Quaboag. The girls romped over Southbridge like 50-15! Tomorrow I go to Worcester VA for a blood draw. Josh will pick me up at 11:00 AM. Today I spent organizing my house. Josh took my dirty laundry.

SNOW GO!

Is is amazing how quickly the foot of snow cover disappeared over night! Moderate temperatures did the trick. The Almanac was wrong. The highlight of this Wednesday saw Chase Robert  come over for some guidance in Public Speaking. I dressed up in my black business suit and blue shirt for the occasion. We reviewed some basics and I felt good. Tonight it was spent watching St. Johns versus Providence play at MSG. The "Johnnies" proved to be the better team. Candidate Chris Christies removal from the race changes the mix. I am tempted to watch the debate!

This day was full in going to Hannaford NB for food. My afternoon was spent reviewing "An Atlas of Human Body."Tomorrow Chase Robert comes by for tips on Public Speaking.

THE OLD FARMER'S ALMANAC 2024

I was given a copy of the OFA for Christmas. I am familiar with this almanac as I used to read it as a teenager. This January's verse reads" New Year's freeze if you please!Snow is plowing , driver's smiling.." We have gotten zonked with Monday's snow measuring a foot in the Brookfields. Tomorrow's storm looks like another storm with snow and rain. Be prepared!

SNOWBALLS &FOOTBALL

This Sunday began with an overnight snow measuring about six inches. Ronnie M plowed my driveway and behold he came back to plow four inches in the afternoon! Earlier in the day Josh came in with my New York Times.I didn't leave the Poodle all day. The Patriots/NY Jets was a pathetic display of battling the snow and saw the Pats lose 20-3. Son Ben alerted me to doing a blog search by typing "Bob Potvin Blogger." You can choose the year and find some interesting titles. I found one quoting The Late John Chancellor regarding the forth coming election by saying "Someone small will get big and someone big will get small!" Stay tuned!

The final score was 78-75 The Hall! The next three games, Georgetown,Butler and St. John's will be televised on FS1.  I am ready for the snowstorm.Six inches is my prediction!

THE PENETRATING COLD OF FRIDAY

With all of the hype about the forthcoming snow storm it was the penetrating cold that slowed me down!  It was my returning to my Honda at Hannaford NB did I notice the cold. Today's television program on CSPAN  about the January 6 Insurrection on the CAPITOL in DC was revealing.  I then watched the President, Joe Biden whose message was revealing. Did go to the American Legion, WB, and enjoyed the visits of Robin Tebo and Carol Slader. Seton Hall men's basketball  against Marquette will be at Noon.

Will stick with my six inch of snow forecast! Watched some YOUTUBE showing of Geo. H.W.Bush.Looking forward to Seton Hall's Saturday game versus Marquette at Noon! 0PPORTUNITY

OPPORTUNITY   They do me wrong who say I come no more When once I knock and fail to find you in. For every day I stand outside your door And bid you wake and rise to fight and win. Wail not precious chances passed away,Weep not for golden ages on the wane. Each night I burn the records of the day. At sunrise every is born again. anon.

This cold Tuesday was productive for me. I filled all of my pills in the Cady, got the mail then went to Hannaford NB.Further watching of YOUTUBE features on George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. I was inspired in watching Washington's climb to fame and even dug out my 26 July, 1967 letter proclaiming me "Soldier of the Month" Award by WILLIAM A. BOYSON, Colonel, Medical Corps. Watching these programs keep me going.
