A COLD WINDY SATURDAY IN WEST BROOKFIELD

Blood glucose 112               Weight 171.6 lbs.

Winter is still here! Although we have a bare ground the season persists.

I began pouring over the many medical bills accrued over the past months. Not funny!

The basketball victory of Seton Hall victory over Marquette proved to be the highlight of my Saturday! Other contests were watched... none of which stand out. I look forward to reading the game's recap in tomorrow's New York Post.

Too early to draw any conclusions over the S.C. Primary. The hype is building for Tuesdays Super Tuesday. No real definition yet.

Pain on my right flank persists.

Did visit Josh & Heidi  and kids after the game.

March will come in like a lion, for sure.

SETON HALL WINS IN MILWAUKEE!

The Pirates are moving into March in style! They were ahead of Marquette U. all of the way and the Pirates played like they team the are: Winners! 21-7 overall 13-3 in the Big East Conference. Myles Powel scored 28 points. Mamukelasvili was great. Marcus Howard never misses a shot for Marquette!

The Hall should gain in ranking on Monday in the AP Top 25 standings.

Seton Hall is playing as they should: winners!

TELEVISION PROBLEMS RESOLVED!

Sometimes it's the little things that help us resolve problems. In my case it was 2 new  AAA batteries for my remote!

The price of gas in Sturbridge is even lover that two weeks ago. Now it's $2.119 a gallon compared to gas in the Brookfields $2.50 and more!

Watched Bernie Sanders in S.C. along with the President. Both speeches were interesting! Watch tomorrow's vote for the Democrats!

Fish dinner at the NB Senior Center was good....

Watched the music video of The Eagles in Australia Farwell Tour I. Always a pleasure to sit back and relax to their tunes...Lyin' Eyes.. Take It Easy."

A cold windy day again.

Big b-ball game in Milwaukee tomorrow at 1:30 PM  Seton Hall versus Marquette. Go Pirates!

TELEVISION PROBLEMS

Temporarily off line. Resolved matters by talking with Spectrum. Seems the batteries in my SONY remote need replacing. Tomorrow!

The day began rainy and moderate temperatures. A front passed by seeing winds gust to 40 mph. No snow whatsoever nor any thunder in the Brookfields.

I went about my business in some pain on my right flank Hannaford' s. Forgot my cane again in the basket. Not good.

Tomorrow is Friday and a special fish meal at the NB Senior Center

Early to bed tonight. All systems say go! Seton Hall Pirates at Marquette Saturday 1:30 PM from Milwaukee

EPIDURAL STEROID/NERVE BLOCK PROCEDURE

My trip to Framingham to Spalding Rehab was a success! I had to lay on my back and was injected on my right flank. The fluoroscope allowed Dr. Wei to see my spine on X-rays. Today's technologies are dazzling! Upon returning home I had a restful day. I am required to keep a Pain Diary for a week rating my pain from 1-10. Did watch lots on You Tube re: proper posture.

Didn't watch the Democratic debate. Seems nobody is really Presidential!

Basketball week is building up. Villanova is taking care of fabled St. Johns.
Seton Hall has three amazing games up beginning Saturday at Creighton!

That's Hall, folks.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF TUESDAY

The world is in a tizzy! Financial markets have changed the optimism of the past couple of years! Now we are in transition and are guarded by what might be: Coronavirus!

I went about my day in a routine manner despite my pain. Did go to the Senior center in NB for some food and intimate conversations of our one table. The sun even came out for a bit. Then clouds took over. I watch Cassius Clay defeat Sonny Liston in the fable Feb. 25 1964 fight. Clam was one "BIG MOUTH." Not my favorite. injection.

I am ready for Framingham in the morning with Josh. Epidural Steroid. "Can do" attitude.

SETON HALL NOW 13TH IN LATEST AP POLL

Seton Hall men's basketball jumped up from 16th to 13th in the latest AP Poll. Kansas leads the list. There was some great reporting about the Hall in today's New York Post.

SUMMER WEATHER

This Monday was exceptional. I read 64 degrees on my car's thermometer and basked in the February sunshine for more than an hour after getting all of my chores done from laundry to food shopping.

Gearing up psychologically for Wednesday's epidural steroid injection. Hope I get good results as I am in main much of the time.

Got my first FORBES Magazine in today's mail. Now I'm ready to relax and get caught up on the news from India!

MY LATE FEBRUARY SUNDAY

This Sunday was another bonus with temperatures in the low fifties. I took advantage of the weather by sitting in my Honda and listening to Casey Kasem. Before that I enjoyed watching a special on George Washington seen on CBS Sunday Morning with Jane Pauley. I learned more about GW and Mount Vernon than ever before!

Collegiate basketball once more filled the day. It is exciting to see Seton Hall back on their feet! Now we must wait until next week to resume action. March Madness is just around the corner. Two birds fed on my sunflower seeds!

Tomorrow I do laundry and all that good stuff.

SETON HALL DEFEATS ST. JOHN'S FOR 20TH WIN OF SEASON

The final score was 81-65 Seton Hall. Myles Powell scored 18 points. He seemed to get better as the game progressed. The previous victory over St. John's was 82-79. The team's AP rating should increase tomorrow. It was a meaningful victory for the Pirates!

A SATURDAY OF POLITICS AND COLLEGIATE BASKETBALL

Bernie Sanders is on his way to getting the nomination of his party! The contrast between Bernie and Donald Trump is major and the American people know it! The other candidates have made another poor showing.

This Saturday was another basketball Saturday. I enjoyed seeing Kentucky and others win. Dick Vitale, announcer, too is avuncular like Uncle Bernie.
I have to wait until tomorrow to watch Seton Hall play St. John's at the Prudential Center at 2:00 PM.

Received my excise bill on my 2008 Honda: $64.90.. cheap!

Weather has been most favorable. Each day gets warmer and less winds.
Enjoy your Sunday!

A BRIGHT COLD FRIDAY IN THE BROOKFIELDS

Blood glucose 102        Weight 172 lbs.

Although we are in Winter, the bare ground makes us feel like Spring is in the air!

My day was good. Cleaners, a visit to Josh & kids and an education on one ROGER STONE.

The headline picture on the NYT is one Roger Stone with a black Fedora and overcoat.  I chose to learn more about this 67 year old friend of President Trump. Stone claims to have written 5 books. Clearly he is "friends" with the president.

Stone is an operative with roots going back to the Nixon Era. This program reveals a man who is similar to Trump in strategies. It is worth watching and speculative whether Trump will "set him free." Stay tuned!

No basketball games of any significance tonight. Tomorrow should be good.  Us Seton Hall fans must wait for Sunday at 2:00 for St. John's.

Weekend forecast is clear and a tad warmer!

2020 PENNIES ARE OUT!

I received shiny new pennies bearing the date of 2020 today an 02-20-2020!
Got them at the Plantation Store in WB.

Today was wintry with low temperatures and strong wins. All we need now is Winter! I had a leaking tire repaired at George's Tire Place in Warren. $9.00!

Noticed the North Brookfield Savings Bank finally repaired their flag pole after months of neglect. Looks good to see Old Glory flying again! Thanks.

The Democrats are faltering. After watching the headlines of the Debate and watching the president in Colorado It seems it will take a miracle to defeat Trump. His confidence grows as the Democrats falter. I know it's a long ways away until November.

Despite the controversy of roger Stone and others, Trump is riding high!

Friday … tomorrow! Good things can happen!

VERY CHEAP GASOLINE IN STURBRIDGE,MA $2.139!

Blood glucose 108          Weight 171.2 lbs

I traveled to Sturbridge to C&R Tire Car Wash for a superior wash. I have coupons where a basic wash costs me only $5.00. Then I had a hunch gas would be cheap. I found one station for $2.35 per gallon. Then I traveled towards Southbridge. I was dazzled when I found two stations at $2.139 a gallon. .. a savings of 45 cents a gallon. Amazing savings! I filled up and saved a bundle. The station at Fiske Hill Road offers both cash or credit at the same low price.

A clear cold day indeed. Windy. Forecast is excellent for the next few days.

Did enjoy a boiled dinner at the NB Senior Center. Another bargain for $3.00
Now I get ready for Seton Hall - Butler basketball at 6:30 PM. Good luck Pirates!

ANOTHER QUIET DAY

My day was one of watching a variety of TV programs. The extensive coverage of U.S. History on the History Channel is humbling. There's so much I don't know about the settling of the USA. From Davey Crockett to Andrew Jackson the Westward movement is amazing. We are today united.

College basketball continues to have a front seat in my abode. St. Johns lost to Xavier hast night and tonight Illinois beat Penn State. I am becoming more of a fan to it all. Seton Hall is ranked 13 in the Sagarin Ratings and 16th in the USA Men's top 25 Poll! Tomorrow night's game is at 6:30 from The Prudential against Butler. Go Pirates!!

Senior Center today and tomorrow for lunch.

Weather in the Brookfields is amazing. Really no snow at all then rain. Sunshine is in the forecast.

Hopefully the Seton Hall Pirates will rebound after their double loss last week. Today's ranking places the Pirates at 16th. Butler Bulldogs Wed. Night 8:30PM.

Saw a robin in my back yard today.. a sure sign of Spring!

Today was a bright Monday allowing all duties as "business as usual."  Did my laundry in Warren then went to Ware-Walmart for two cases of Equate 350 nutrition drink and other goodies.

Watched some of the Daytona 500 and other Monday offerings. Right now I have St. Johns - Xavier at The Garden.

To NB Senior Center for lunch tomorrow.

MY QUIET FEBRUARY SUNDAY

Blood glucose 109      Weight 170.5 lbs.

I spent the day watching a variety of television programs. The pop singers from Air Supply were featured on CBS Sunday Morning! Son Ben and I saw the duo sing at Mohegan Son years ago. I like their music.

The big watch was the Daytona 500. ump was there campaigning with his wife. I enjoyed watching the race until a rain delay took over so the 2019 Daytona race was shown.

Tonight I am enjoying "WASHINGTON" on the History Channel. It is a highly sophisticated presentation. I did recognize Joseph Ellis, the Mount Holyoke College history professor who lied about his Vietnam service.

Tomorrow will be laundry and Walmart-Ware.

A major problem exists with the Seton Hall Pirates! Just look at the score: 32-8! Terrible. Final Score Providence 74 - Seton Hall 71.

The Hall rebounded somewhat. Powell came alive in the second half scoring 27 points total.

Butler comes to town on Wednesday. Hopefully this dip is short lived. If not it will be curtains! Go Pirates!

A DAY OF WATCHING PAWN STARS

Blood glucose 109    Weight 171.5lbs

I awoke to a 2 inch cover of snow-
slush. The amazing thing is how such small storms have kept us at bey for much of the winter so far. But wait.. some of the coldest winter weather will arrive in the next couple of days.
I note Miami is at 80 degrees! How lucky!

After my daily routine I settled into watching Pawn Stars! This program along with American Pickers is educational and relaxing for me. Star Rick Harrison does a fine job in making the show interesting. Rick has a Celebrity Net Worth of $8 Million! Chumlee and his sidekick add further color to the program.

Getting ready for tomorrow's Framingham doctor's visit. The whole focus is attending to my sciatic disability on my right back and leg.. Josh is driving me in for my 1:30 visit.

Still licking my wounds of the Seton Hall defeat by Creighton. The New York Post had an excellent recap on the game. Providence College Saturday in Providence!

WHICH CANDIDATES ARE REALLY PRESIDENTIAL?

In 1992 I traveled with candidates in the New Hampshire Primary. I distinctly recall making notes that Bill Clinton was 'Presidential'.

Tonight's returns and activities are surprising. First, Joe Biden "left early" for SC. His New Hampshire showing isn't good.

There are too many candidates in the running. Old Bernie Sanders is leading however I'm somewhat concerned with his advancing years and a more defensive position regarding his health issues. Pete G. is second and doesn't seem presidential at age 38. Amy comes across genuine and surprisingly is ahead of Elizabeth Warren.

More candidates should drop out to tighten up the race!

In other matters it was a dismal day overall. I did have lunch at the NB Senior Center with some five friends showing up.

Tomorrow night is Seton Hall - Creighton  at 6:30PM. Collegiate basketball is much more interesting than most political contests! Go Pirates!

PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP - JUGGERNAUT

Juggernaut = A huge powerful, and overwhelming force or institution.

It is obvious President Trump is energized by his acquittal on Impeachment!

Trump's coming to New Hampshire for a rally in the eve of the Democratic primary reveals:

  • The incredible support of his followers.
  • The patriotic flair has attracted thousands of Americans which are on the Trump bandwagon.
  • Trump delights in his popularity.
  • Americans are waving the flag again!
The New Hampshire Primary will pale compared to tonight's "celebration."

MY QUIET SUNDAY AT HOME

My Sunday was quiet. Snow flurries. I did get a haircut by Josh and I like the results!

Sunday television includes a few basketball games, news shows and a preview of the forthcoming New Hampshire Primary. Former VP Joe Biden was seen on C-SPAN from New Hampshire. It seems his rambling on for more than hour reveals a person with lots of answers. He is not my choice!

Tomorrow is the weekly selection of the AP Top 25 selection of men's NCAA basketball ratings. Ben and I feel the choice will be 8th for Seton Hall. Josh is more conservative!

Trump will be in New Hampshire tomorrow. Should be interesting! Stay tuned!

ANOTHER BASKETBALL SATURDAY IN THE BROOKFIELDS

The big victory was DUKE defeating NC in overtime. Nothing finer.

Creighton walked over St. Johns and seems to be a formidable challenge for the Pirates next Wednesday night. In the meantime we'll savor the victory at Villanova. Go HALL!
Tomorrow's Superstar - Evie age 6

On the local scene little Evie continues to shine. Poor Maddie didn't have such a happy moment. Maddie plays hard.

In other news I caught the Full Moon peeping through the clouds. Also, there were fireworks somewhere downtown. No clues?

Time for a free haircut by "Barber Josh" tomorrow.

I like the variety of collegiate games offered on a Saturday.

SETON HALL MAKES HISTORY BY DEFEATING VILLANOVA AT HOME!

February 26, 1994 is the last time The Hall won a game at Villanova!

Today's game in Philadelphia was one for the books. The Hall started off strong then seemed to fade. At the half the Hall trailed 31-27. Then the tide changed. The Pirates looked great on the road.. that's why they are first in the Big East. Final score 70-64!

Myles Powell in a post game interview was ebullient!

Keep going Pirates! Creighton Wednesday night 6:30 FS1 at Prudential Center, Newark, NJ.

A TRECHEROUS THURSDAY UNDERFOOT

With no more than an inch of glaze, this morning's challenges were obvious. I had pulled up in front of the WB Post Office when I observed a senior citizen tumble on the public sidewalk. It was frightening to see this occurrence! From dealing with no electricity last night I am acutely aware of "falls." Didn't bother getting out of the car. Then at Comprehensive Therapy I was faced with the same challenge. Ice is more dangerous than snow! The parking lot at Hannaford, NB,  was properly treated however.

I was amused in watching the president talk to his followers. He seemed relieved. All major headlines read "ACQUITTED!" I bought the USA TODAY and am mailing it to an ardent Trump supporter in South Georgia!

Watch New Hampshire on Tuesday's Primary. I don't think there's any real front-runner? Do you?

The Pirates came back to the court with a vengeance and beat Georgetown 78-71.

I had an interesting experience in watching the game: My electricity went off with the Hall leading 16-0. The remainder of the game was in the dark for me! I used a flashlight to get score updates on my Smart Phone.
Myles Powell was hotter than the 4th of July scoring 34 points according to the New York Post.

This one victory is a confidence builder for the men from South Orange, NJ.
