WHY NOT BE YOUR OWN METEOROLOGIST?

With today's incredible technologies, why not take on a new hobby Meteorology? Every possible conceivable term is right in front of you: Your keyboard, your monitor and your brain! From the screeching chalk of Don Kent's weather prognostications has come a world of happiness for me: weather-watching!

While traditional instrumentation was a must,. I repeat.. all you need is curiosity! who, what, when, where and why may provide you with a Weather Laboratory for the asking. Sure you need to build a weather vocabulary. A Glossary of Meteorological Terms can catapult you into the stratosphere. Honest.

Begin by learning the names of  clouds.Learn to recognize their formations in the heavens. Know the difference between Celsius and Fahrenheit and at what temperatures they read the  same: Minus 40.

From the days of The Old Farmer's Almanac ( a guessing game, indeed) came Sputnik 1 and satellites to give weathermen "cameras in the abyss."  The miracle of the Hubble Telescope in the early Nineties redefined how man thinks about the sun, the stars, the moon and me!. LOL. Your meteorological sky can be yours for the asking!

Today's P o l a r  V o r t e x is just another word for THE MONTREAL EXPRESS!

By learning a thing or two about meteorology you can embrace so much of the obvious! I do, I am LOVING IT! Let the North Winds Blow as we hunker down for the Holidays.
