It's simple:'MY FAMILY!'
If you allow yourselves to get depressed.. guess what? You will go into a funk.
Post-WII prosperity saw so many Americans delve into materialism as we never experienced before. Money grew on trees. Dolls pissed their pants and the proliferation of goods "Made in Japan" was the beginning. In 1956 Containers brought to American consumers more than our share of material goods.. enough to choke a horse.
Each year Christmas became a Season of PhDs.. Piled higher and deeper! From coal in the stocking and a few gift-wrapped toys and clothing to a new automobile! The beat went on and on to the point of today's feeding frenzies beyond the limits of the sky.
Are Americans happier today? I think not.
Christmas can be a historically romantic time. All of the Songs of the Season are available to all of us for the asking. I like Ray Conniff's 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' the best. Bob Hope's "Christmas in Vietnam" on YOU TUBE is another winner. You must throw yourselves into the Holiday Season. Observe facial expressions.. hugs and kisses.. happiness personified.
The secret to a good Christmas is being good...good to each other and good to yourselves. At this stage of my life I don't "need a new car" nor do I need anything else. "My Cup Runneth Over" and I sincerely hope you have the same sentiments. If you have feelings DUMP YOUR BUCKET and forgive others.. and forgive yourselves! 'You better not pout!'
