MARTIN D. LEACH - PRINCIPAL

Mr. Leach was fair and equitable.

A high school principal must be fair to his students and to himself. In going from having the Sisters of Saint Joseph and a Catholic discipline, a brand new high school facility located on the Oakham Road, North Brookfield, Mass and Public school teachers meant a change.

Teachers included Muriel Coughlin, Stanley Kuniholm, Robert Coture, Ginger Mansfield, Anne Murphy, Ruby O'Coin, Stanley Porter, Laura Wheaton, Larry Boyd, George Sawicki, Emile Boucher, George Dahlquist, Constance Richardson, Janitor Eugene Wyman, and more.

Students were bussed in from New Braintree, East Brookfield and later West Brookfield and Oakham. We made new friends, participated in different extracurricular activities and enjoyed sports for all seasons.

Beeing Mr. Leach was a relief pitcher for Holy Cross College and a huge fan of Connie Mack, sports at NBHS reigned supreme.

There were a few punks in the school system and Mr. Leach had their numbers.

Today the world is different; today NBHS is different. For the occasion, being an Indian  was special. Thanks, Mr.Leach!
