THREE HIGHLIGHTS OF MY 76 YEARS

Yesterday I drove 398 miles! Cooperstown and baseball's Hall of Fame delighted me  to no end. Despite the fog and rain I was given the Red Carpet Treatment  from the get-go. My focus was on Ted Williams and old Connie Mack.. two luminaries on the mounds of life.

In doing my research I was escorted to the museum's research library. I requested files available on Teddy Ballgame ( The Splendid Splinter) and (Mr. Baseball.") Mack and Williams truly are in baseball heaven looking down on your old blogger!

Two humongous files were delivered to me at the lengthy table: Mack & Williams.  The wow factor was incredible! Where to begin? I immediately said to myself: "Self you will need 3 days to pour over this material if you want to be an expert in TW and CM."

Regardless of the shitty weather I threw my baseball spirit   into the moment. The Doubleday Café' offered me New England clam chowder and a Diet Pepsi for under $10.00. The chowder was the best ever in my opinion.

All along I enjoyed my trek in style. Now I will propose a Senior Citizen trip back to Cooperstown, NY. Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays beckon my return. Wish me good luck in planning these trips.

A baseball is my first highlight of my life comes in raising sons Ben and Josh. First comes 2 year old "Benji." Ben was a comely toddler and appreciates pop music today. The truth of the matter, today Ben is a music historian in his right.

In 1974, at age 2, Ben became enamored with Tony Orlando's smash hit:
TIE A YELLOW RIBBON ' ROUND THE OLD OAK TREE. Twenty-four years later I met Tony back stage while living in Laramie WY. I recounted my  memory with Tony and received his autograph for Ben.

Fast forward to the 1987 World Series - St. Louis, MO. As we were walking towards Busch Stadium Josh, my rebel son said to me.. "There's REGGIE!"
Okay. here's my Cross pen and business card.. get in step with him and ask him for his autograph!  Voila, a keepsake for my son.

I could go on with a million more baseball memories from walking into the Atlanta  1992 World Series without tickets to attending the 1991 All Star Game in Toronto. Bob Potvin has always tried to mix business with pleasure and MLB  and  Tony Orlando go hand in hand!

Take time to smell the roses. I do!
