THE TERRIBLE TRUTH ABOUT FENWAY PARK

Greed is defined by Webster as " a selfish desire for wealth and possessions."  Having spent four days investigating the mechanics of the Red Sox enterprises I submit the following:

  • Parking $55.00
  • Hot Italian sausage  $10.00
  • Diet Coke $4.00
  • Grandstand ticket $93.00
  • Ball cap $30.00
Bouquets of flowers were delivered this morning.. apparently for tables set for the privileged. Some folks think it is important to hob nob with the rich and famous and the truth is the rich are leading the mob.

Any semblance of parity cannot be found! I WIN - YOU LOSE prevails. Souvenir shops gouge the enthused fans by selling "Made in China" crap for extreme prices. Some think autographed baseballs will appreciate in value when in reality most will fade off into oblivion like the setting sun.

Today, I had the pleasure of talking with two Seasoned Scalpers. Amazing insights. The mantra today is HUB-STUB and other ticket services has chiseled into their game of "SELLING TICKETS?" Gone are the days when box seats cost $8.00. absolutely everything about the Red Sox enterprise is rife with greed at the fan's expensed. One scalper ADMITTED TO MAKING $130,000 AT A Super Bowl game.

Big Shots in the executive offices seemingly have no room for me. I write, I write.,I write. So what?! The only resolve as I see things is to stay at home and relax with a beer or two while the game is played. The New York/Boston rivalry is worse than the Curse.

Baseball's immortal, Connie Mack, was humble, a Christian, and had to sell players to meet his payroll. Free agency makes zillionaires out of talented men. The Boston franchise seems to be running scared. Ads are everywhere on the walls of Fenway Park. It is not a pleasant sight.

True Red Sox  fans have been priced out of the GAME!  It is not a pretty sight. Mass merchandising of stuff  leads me to believe we are saturated and don't know how to resist temptation.

"WISDOM OUT WEIGHS WEALTH... TRUTH AGAINST THE WORLD"  AND the truth is "my name's tucker not sucker."
