OUR OVERWEIGHT YOUNG 18 - 24 MALES

When I was drafted on May 13, 1966, I weighed in at 172 lbs. Eight weeks later, my Basic Training at Fort Know taught me how to become physically fit. I graduated from the Army program weighing 156,

The big news tonight is we are producing Pudgy soldiers according to a report released by the Pentagon. Defense Secretary, James Mattis, a retired Marine general says the epidemic is a "big concern."

"It is a sad state of affairs when 71 percent of the 18-24-year-old males in this country cannot qualify to enter the United States Army as a private" Mattis said.

All we have to do is look at the daily diets of our young. Fast foods are showing people 'how not to eat.' With no regard for good health, America's youth are building a profile of FAT!

All across the board obesity is the rule. Improper eating, smoking, drinking, laziness are wonderful for those poor souls that are going to be delivered a failing report card in the years to come. I feel sorry for the millions of physicians who must deal with this in the years to come!

My suggestion has been from the get-go is to offer  CCC Camps a across the Nation. Retired American Citizens can play a big role in this regard. I bought a book entitled "This New America The Story of the C.C.C. (Conservation Civilian Corps.) President Franklin D. Roosevelt got America's young me to "shape up!" It was in operation from 1933 to 1942. Alfred "Chick" Chase worked in a CCC Camp in Vermont!

As the old sergeant yelled to us recruits 'GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES' holds true today!!!

Hip 2-3-4...count cadence count!

5o years later we both feel "Basic Training in the U.S.ARMY WAS THE THRILL OF OUR LIVES. and we were both rebels! DISCIPLINE  MAKES THE MAN.. PERIOD!
