It is so beautiful to ask a man born in 1931 to recount his narrative about Saigon!
Raymond Brunelle is amazingly "on target' as he poured out his Vietnam Memories at the West Brookfield Senior Center Veterans Breakfast. His fiancé' Dora listened intently and intensely as "Ray" began. "My assignment as assisting the The French IN THEIR ATTEMPTED CONQUEST which ended up at Dien Bien Phu in 1954.
Mr. Brunelle was a radio man. It was hotter than hot upon arrival in January of 1953. Believe it or not... Raymond Brunelle had an R&R to Vung Tau on the coast of the South China Sea. Back in Saigon "Radio 3645" transmitted correspondence in Saigon to MAAG sites in Manila, in the Phillipines to Honolulu, Hawaii to San Francisco to the La Planta Radio site in Maryland. All info ended up in The Department of Defense and The White House in Washington, DC...
Back in Saigon.. Mr. Ray Brunelle says.."we were helping the French! members of the Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy. Cholon was mentioned in this spectacular interview on Veteran's Day 2016. At age 85 he could pass for a 55 year old! I know this veteran who has always likes fine automobiles!
It is truly an honor to sit down with Ray and Dora.....your story is music to my ears. Thanks!
Your friend, Bob.
