LEARNING ABOUT HUMAN PAIN

While at "Mass General" today I grabbed a  publication entitled " UNDERSTANDING YOUR PAIN" BY "KRAMES PATIENT EDUCATION." This little 10 page pamphlet impresses me with explanations about PAIN:1. Acute pain.. 2.Chronic pain.

"Acute pain typically lasts fewer than 3 months. It goes away when the cause is treated."

"Chronic pain typically lasts longer than 3 months."

I don't know how many folks realize pain can be alleviated many ways. Clearly asprin and NSAID products will be in your blood stream in 15 minutes according to Louis B.Grace, M.D.

Late friends and brothers "Stackow" and 'Swedis" complained of "bad backs" taking Percocet to give them relief. MY Georgia buddy gets help from a chiropractor. My bunk-mate in the U.S. Army is a chiropractor. Last April when all hell broke loose,Arthur-It-is came into my life. My left knee's x-rays reveal osteoarthritis. My VA nurse, Luann,  sent some Diclofenac, and guess what? The stuff works for Pain/Inflammation!

"Anybody who treats himself has a Fool for a patient!" Please don't be a hero.

"All pain signals travel to the brain. The brain sends back signals to protect the body. In response to pain, the brain also sends out it's own pain killers (endorphins.)
These can reduce pain"

The only thing that cannot be treated is a " pain in the ass!" LOL.
