In anticipating my grandson's birthday on November 23rd I conjured up a idea. IF I give him a crisp $50.00 bill what amount would that amount be in the year I was born 1942?
The inflation rate is 1,383 percent in 1942 dollars...$3.83! Back then Half-Dollars were 90% silver and if you have an Uncirculated "Walker" Mint-State 63, the Red Book value is a whopping $80..... A roll of 20 is worth over $2,000!
I once worked for Robert H. Glass Auctioneers and had ROLLS of Walking Libertys.. brand new specimens.....The Rare Coin Auction grossed well over One Quarter Million Dollars!
