Old Jimmie Durante was quite a story teller in his days! From "Frosty the Snowman" to his 1938 hit "September Song" Durante captures our imaginations! His snozolla (big nose) never stopped his infectious spirit in charming his audiences. Jimmy lived from 1883 to 1980. Seemingly he was unique! You can log onto YouTube and watch Jimmy perform his wonderful "September Song." The lyrics are philosophical in nature.
By contrast, Neil Diamond the singer is truly AMERICAN singing 'America' from his 1980s album Jazz Singer. Diamond is a prolific song writer and performer. I once saw Neil in concert at The Centrum in 1998. I am amazed of his performing prowess! As I recall Mr. Diamond sang for hours impressing me to write a letter to Neil. His manager responded.
So, if you are in a September mood get on with life and living. The best time of the year is upon us. Travel to your heart's content. Drive to Old Cape Cod, rake some leaves (LOL)..travel to Plymouth Vermont and delight in the incredible Fall foliage.. but most of all.. BE HAPPY!
I am returning to the Spencer Fair this morning to bring my two Stetsons for cleaning $25 each..to a hat vendor, Wayne's Western World of Northboro, MA. Both cowboy hats are symbolic of my "cowboy years."
"SEPTEMBER MORN" OR "SEPTEMBER SONG..." TAKE YOUR PICK!
