TIPS ON KEEPING YOUR NEW CAR NEW

High-tech vehicles are a  lot different from my first car, a 1933 Chevrolet Coupe that sported a crank and Free Wheeling! I learned early a car must be given TLC. Maintenance is the key word to a long life as in keeping things the way they should be.

The sophistication of today's vehicles amazes me as does my new Honda Accord with almost 206,000 highway miles.

So here we go.

Rule 1. No food in the cabin. Rules are rules and you must enforce your investment. Keep it clean.

Rule 2. High Power spray your vehicle as needed. I do mine every 3 or 4 days for $3.00 a shot. You can be as fastidious as you want to be.$10 wash jobs can be mitigated by your time.

Rule 3. Vacuum your car every time you wash it.

Rule 4. Do not smoke in the car. Non-smokers resent the smell of tobacco.

Rule 5. Dress up the tires as they reflect the total car. ARMORAL!

Rule 6. Windex and paper towels, please.

Rule 7. Attention to details pays off. Buy a Giotto photographer's brush for the nooks and crannies on the dashboard.

Rule 8. Read the Owners Manual! Know what you own..  miniature space ships.

Rule 9. Keep your car new. Dad owned a 1936 Oldsmobile until 1950 and sold it to Hervey Gadbois with 200,000 miles. Gadbois drove it to 300,000!

Rule 10. You can see Fuller Lube in Auburn for timely oil changes if you may..
Rule 11. Have your vehicle cleaned & waxed (Meguiar's Cleaner & Waxed) every 6 months.)

Man's love affair with vehicles continues. Be proud of your "depreciating asset." LOL.
