THE DAY MY FATHER LOST HIS BALANCE AND FELL (FROM A TRUCK'S) REAR'

Maybe 1947? My Dad was riding in the back of Uncle Al's stake body pickup. The wind blew dad's cap off, and he reached for it as sawdust clouded his vision. Losing balance dad fell to the ground sustaining a concussion!

As I boy I witnessed my father being escorted to his bed on the second floor of 18 South Main. Dad was delirious. Amazing. I paid attention. Doctor Kent Royal was summonsed to his bedside. I stood there. My Dad began to cry like a baby. He was going to live and so was I....!

Doctor Royal " Bates College) observed the inter-action between me and my father.

"Joe will recover and be alright!' Indeed he was. There is an inseparable bond between a father and his
son. Know this.

Very truly yours,
