YAZ 2016

Carl Yastrezemski was the PLYMOUTH ROCK of the Boston Red Sox! YAZ was a hitter's hitter. He wore his 1967 Triple Crown with great humility. He is my Main Man of MLB. He made the Impossible Dream possible. Today I like everything about Carl Yastrzemski. Few may know Yaz attended Notre Dame University in South Bend. I once knew a man by the name of Carl Hogan of Aetna who gave first hand accountings of Yaz.'Go ahead.. hit me in the stomach' exhorted Yaz to a college friend reinforcing his masculinity.

Yaz was Red Sox owner Ton Hawkey's surrogate son and Tom and Jean were childless. Yaz won 7 Gold Glove Awards. He won th Triple Crown in 1967 and the batting championship in 1963, 1967, 1968 at .301!He's near the top  for "games played" and is all time leader  in career RBIs, runs hits, singles, doubles, total bases and games played! He da Man.

Yaz was the last to win the Triple Crown, a fete not equaled until Miguel Cabers achieved some 45 years later.

Baseball can bring out the best in me especially in 'Cold Weather!' LOL.

"No player has had a longer career with only one team - 23 years.. shared with Baltimore's Brooks Robinson. 452 HR and nobody played the Wall of the Green Monster than Carl Yastrzemski.

Today, YAZ at 77 lives and prospers. .. a wonderful role model for baseball enthusiasts of all ages! Good Luck Carl!  Keep going!
