THE HYPING OF THE U.S. PRESIDENCY

The current media seemingly has churned the Race for The White beyond reproach! Too many experts..too much BS... not enough truth. Admittedly I am a junkie, but an old junkie of age 74. I have seen a Kennedy, a Nixon, a Ford (no Lincolns, a Dole, a Tsongas, old Bush, Clintonians, Kerry, Vietnam John, Paul Simon, Jessie Jackson and more. The candidates were bigger than life.

My proximity to New Hampshire allowed me to have a primary position in seeing these guys in the flesh. I essentially began  covering this in 1992. To say the least it was edifying..

My crowning coup d tat was having breakfast with VP Dick Cheney at a Veterans' Day breakfast in Laramie, WY in 1999! "The Haliburton Hawk" was affable, helpful and articulate.Cheney guided me in my bid for Congress as an Independent. The colossus of my 50 year enterprise came with meeting Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964.He da man. Of course Iron Mike Dukakis was local courting Louis B. Grace, MD, at Graceland in the 1980s.

My interview with Son John Coolidge in Farmington, CT in the mid seventies was rich with truth. He said "my father was sick and tired of serving the public and "Chose not to run in 1928." Smart man. Some presidential-types just don't know when it is time to "step-down." Others have the "message of the ballot box." Just ask GHWB!

So what's the future of Elections? Smart-Phones? and aging millennials!

Finally, JFK used to carry a facecloth around with him so he could wipe away dirt from his handshakes with enthusiasts. Maybe that's why they call it Dirty Politics? LOL
