SWEET CITY AUTUMN - NEW ENGLAND COUNTRYSIDE

Bingo! It's here! Dead leaves in many colors.

Two times in my life I yearned for autumn leaves... being away from home. Saint Louis, Missouri made me double homesick each Fall. But why? Cooler days and longer nights could only be satisfied by the baseball Cardinals defeating the New York Yankees in the World Series! I came to realize in 1968 and 1987 fall foliage did exist west of the Mississippi... but not while serving in Vietnam in 1967.

Dead leaves in Vung Tau just made my pain more pronounced. The leaves were ugly.I have learned in my old age to capture moments in my heart, camera and brain. For all who yearn for yesterday, recall burning laves on our roadsides of our lives. Burning leaves was a ritual that ceased and desisted in the Sixties. I do have a son who sports shades of being a pyromaniac in his campfires. Me too.

Tomorrow I shall head to the Quabbin with "pen in hand." No place is more inspirational any time of the year. Rural New Braintree comes in second. Wespalis Farm affords beauty personified. Take a trip by the State Police Academy tomorrow and really discover what life is all about.. and it is absolutely FREE!

My Sweet City Woman is a girl in the country..Mother Nature..kiss me quick, I'm French!
