There can be many facts that affect the longevity of a car or truck. For decades it was all about rust. Then Rusty Jones came along and seemed to have changed the mix. Bondo came through the doors of body repair but that seemed to have changed the mix. Seriously, though, "life in the fast-lane" and Don Henley has brought about reform of sorts.
Remember when you could report cars that left a trail of smoke! Today's vehicles are so sophisticated we have entered a Space Zone! As I exchange ownership from Pontiac Grand Am to Honda Accord I have a new respect for high-mileage cars. Maintain them and they'll last almost forever! LOL. Richard B. Johnson ran his yellow Hummer 300,000. I ran a MB 242,000 miles and a Volvo 221,000. I think quality cars and trucks, properly taken care of can last but we must cares them!
American Honda to the rescue!
I recall the days of company cars. I knew some clowns that never changed the oil! This is a mortal sin. After reviewing the records sof my new Honda last night I am proud to say Son Josh really cared for this car and it shows. He drove this car annually at 38,000 miles and "cleaned and pressed" it.
Repairs are a way of life.. all years.. all models! Hopefully I will see a continued long life. A new old car means a new beginning. And for God's sake.."KEEP IT CLEAN!
