ALL ABOARD FOR A RIDE ON SPUTNIK

October 4, 1957 really began the Space Race. I was 15 at the time. I recall Sputnik's innocent beep. Richard Brian Johnson V and I allowed our spatial imaginations to wonder into the cumulonimbus surroundings. Years later Dick bought an airplane and really got into it. I traveled in his Cessna twice.

Ike seemed to be a stick in the mud compared with JFK who said in 1961 at Rice University ' WE CHOOSE TO GO TO THE MOON!"

Sputnik II carried the dog names Laika. Didn't he drool and poop in Space? On Mar 17, 1958 , Vanguard 1 satellite was launched into orbit. Lost in 1964 it remains the oldest human made orbit still in Space.

Ranger, Mariner, Mercury, Friendship, Luna, Tiros, Discoverer, Soyuz, Apollo, Saturn and more have given us everything we have today, and take for granted. LOOK UP INTO THE SKY.. IS IT A BIRD, THE SPACE STATION,SUPERMAN OR SPUTNIK.

Do yourself a favor  and print out "THE TIMELINE OF THE SPACE RACE" enjoy it and give your grandkids a copy otherwise they'll

be "lost on space!"
