A NEW LIFE IN ELECTRICAL TRANSITION

Tomorrow!

Electricity can be shocking. Our electric bills can be shocking. So what to do?

Conservation of anything only comes when you know continued behaviors will send us to the poor house. My last bill of $328.95 and 1656 kWh used told me "Enough, Bobby!" So now I am waging an all-out war against exorbitant monthly charges. Last July my usage was 487 kWh!

So now, here's more money saving ideas from wikiHow.  The ideas are broken down as follows: 1. Indoor and Outdoor Lighting..2. Appliances and Electronics  3. Heating and Cooling.

Indoor and Outdoor Lighting : Use more natural lighting. Raise your shades to lower your bills. Put the kids playroom in the brightest room in the house. Embrace the sun's rays. It's a no-brainer. White repels black absorbs..

Have night hangout rooms... not all over the house.

Use candles a few times a week but don't burn down the house.

Get solar powered lights for outdoors.

Use energy efficient lightbulbs.

Appliances & Electronics

UNPLUG EVERYTHING!
Reduce your reliance on appliances
Just be smart.. not an Electrical Dummy.

Use less hot water.
Insulate your house R-19. 70 % of heat loss goes up through ceilings
and roof.

Encourage family to pursue activities that don't use electricity.

Wear sweaters and lower thermostats.
