IN DEFENSE OF L.B.J.

The smut surrounding the legacy of President Johnson does not sway me from appreciating all he did for America and Americans. For those who want to know the truth refer to "Seeing Is Believing -The Enduring Legacy of a Johnson"..in a speech given at the LBJ Library in 2008 at the Centennial Celebration  of President Johnson. This Keynote Address was given by former cabinet member  Joseph A. Califano, Jr.

"Seeing Is Believing" is the theme  of a man and friend of LBJ.. "'LBJ had his heart in his War on Poverty." Further , "Johnson created 35 national

parks, 32 within driving distance of  large cities....."No wonder National Geographic called Johnson 'our greatest conservation president!"

"Johnson was a genuine, true believing revolutionary." He taught poor Mexican-Americans in Cotulla, tx.  "HE SAW RACIAL INJUSTICE AS A MORAL ISSUE."  'Johnson WAS PERPETUALLY IMPATIENT  and relentlessly   restless." Lyndon Johnson knew how to use power.'' Johnson did more than any other President to advance civil rights and education." I know this as I had National Defense Education Loans at the time!

It isn't what he did in Vietnam.. it's what he did at home. Producer Rob Reiner of All In The Family admits of being a draft dodger and had a 'change of heart' in reviewing the LBJ/Woody.. movie. He too discovered LBJ's compassion.

"Johnson's acts President Johnson wrote a record of hope and opportunity in America!"..., an incredible array of laws. in his 5 years as President. Lady Bird Johnson is quoted as saying ' LYNDON WAS A NEEDED PRESIDENT."

Critics of LBJ must log onto the Presidential Library site for SEEING IS TRULY BELIEVING.' All wars are "enterprise" and the Vietnam War is no exception! The reality is "the history of mankind is war."
