A B-52 Stratofortress bomber

There's nothing better for this blogger than to interview Veterans of the war. In this case it is VIETNAM!

Meet Mort Gutman, a Vietnam War B-52 navigator. In the U.S.A.F. Lt. Mort trained for 2 years s an Officer. First in Sacramento at Magher Air Force Base then to Bombadier School for 6 mos... then to Ballistics training onto Weapons School including nuclear then Survival School in Spokane, WA.

Then to working with a crew.

-52 tells the Pilot and Co-Pilot where to go. The bombardier tells when to drop the bombs. You also have a tail gunner.

'PARADISE IS FOUND IN THE SHADOW OF THE SWORDS" This statement couldn't be more truer.

B-52s are A. B. C. D (Hundreds) E. F. G. H. with fan Jets.

In the Vietnam War there weren't any B-52s " In Country."  Stationed in GUAM (5 1/2 hours away, Okinawa 4 hours away, Thailand 2 hours away the life of a Navigator was exhausting according to Captain Gutman.

These B.U.F.F.s require 2 miles of runway to become airborne! In Guam "the air density wasn't good." 'Refueling separates the men from the boys."

In America we take so much for granted. Our Military Might is our prescription to PEACE.

In Vietnam "LBJ was picking out bombing targets.
Three countries currently operate strategic bombers: United States, Russia and China.
