HICKORY - DICKORY- DOCK

Robert C. Cheney

Willard Clocks

There's a great little clock museum here in Worcester County,Mass. Willard House and Clock Museum is the home of Simon, Benjamin, Ephraim and Aaron Willard who made clocks more than 200 years ago. The rustic setting in Grafton affords the traveler a quintessential  experience in American antiquity. Executive Director & Curator Robert C. Cheney explains the history of clocks and really strikes time in explaining HOW "CLOCKS WERE THE COMPUTER IN THE 18TH CENTURY!" Clocks opened up the doors in defining lines of  Longitude for mariners.

The Willard House & Museum "reaches out to school children. Kids are inculcated in the ways of horology ( the study of time pieces.) In addition fine Period antiques are on display to pique the school children's imagination.

This quaint New England Museum is easy to fine at Exit 11 of the MassPike.. Follow signs. The website is willardhouse.org. A visit will show the entire legacy of the Willard Clockmakers. You can call 508-839-3500.
