A VISIT TO THE SPELLMAN MUSEUM OF STAMPS AND POSTAL HISTORY

I love everything about the hobby of being a stamp enthusiast!  Today I visited Mecca in Weston, MA. Since 1954 stamps have been my love. I excelled in U.S. History and Geography from what I learned as a stamp hobbyist. Today, my love affair continues!

Executive Director Joe Mullins was kind enough to explain the virtues of the Spellman Museum.  Features include  Exhibits and Collections, Museum Store and Post Office, Resource Center & Library, Groups and clubs educational Programs and Membership.

In particular was "kids 5-12 who are curious about the world." Scouts and teachers participate in museum visits. "Fifth grade is the pivotal year as "kids are excited to learn."  Collectors and non-collectors can purchase at discounted rates a variety of mint stamps and ancillary goodies from men's neckties to plate blocks of 4. There's no limit to the fun once can experience at "Spellman."

Stamp collecting never grows old. It is one hobby that keeps our minds active as we grow old. Family Day is on Thursday - February 21st. 11:00 - 3:00. Activities include "Designing your own presidential stamps". Also, doing arts and crafts using stamps. The Annual Philatelic Bazaar will be held on March 2nd - Noon - 3 pm. "Collections, country lots, covers, post cards, supplies, job lots, handbooks, journals & catalogs."
