The biddy reigned supreme when she was principal at School Street School, North Brookfield. Then, when we moved to NBHS on the Oakham Road she lost her power to Martin D. Leach. Some students liked Ruby A. O'Coin!
I recall Ruby driving her 1939 Buick sedan taxing her mother around town. The mother sat in the right rear holding onto the hand strap.
I locked horns with Miss O'Coin one Thanksgiving Wednesday. She told me to lift my head up from napping in study hall and I blurted "Miss O'Coin you never give anybody a break." It went down hill from there and I was "escorted to Mr. Leach's office!
It was a joke if you asked me. I was insolent and impudent according to the biddy. My friend Mr. Leach took charge of the skirmish!
After high school graduation, one time she put me down "you never did much in high school." LOL
