WALKING TO NEW ORLEANS

My travels around the USA with Ben and Josh saw us drive to New Orleans in August of 1981. We drove down the East Coast into the South and enjoyed every minute of it. The destination was Kansas City, MO, but there was an  ANA coin convention in New Orleans that drew our magnet. New Orleans was awesome!

The Ponchatrain  Bridge was unbelievable and my driving over he main New Orleans Bridge in a thunder storm caused me to sweat! While in New Orleans we visited the Federal Reserve Bank where I handled Ten Grand of new currency. Of course, I was behind bars, LOL

New Orleans and Bourbon Street were expensive. I recall paying $4.00 for a Coke. At the time I didn't give much thought about the Late Fats Domino and his music.. Tonight I do!

I just watched Fats on YouTube. You've gotta connect to "Bedroom Television" for the real effect or is it affect? LOL.

Now with Chuck Berry and The Fat Man gone their old LPs

will be resurrected along with CDs. When I watch Mr. Domino on television just now I became aware of one thing. THESE MEN WERE SHOWMAN! It seems white trousers and white shoes are the rule. FATS loved jewelry wearing massive rings.

You will be hearing more and more Easy Listening from the memory of Antoine and I will be first in line as I'll be WALKING TO NEW ORLEANS.

Lyrics:

'This time I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walking to New Orleans
I'm gonna need a two pair of shoes
When I get through walking' these blues
When I get back to New Orleans
I've got my suitcase in hand
Now ain't that a shame?
I'm leaving here today
Yes, I'm going back home to stay
Yes, I'm walking to New Orleans
You used to be my honey
Till you spent all my money
No use for you to cry
I'll see you by and by
'Cause I'm walking to New Orleans....

Love,
FATS
