The 4th of July Celebration as seen on TV from Washington, DC was most revealing. The red, white and blue festivities featured the injured Patriots, families, friends, politicians (Sen. Markey) and a million fans and performers running the entertainment spectrum. I don't recall all the names but I do recall faces. I liked Renee' Flemming's performance the best!
In particular I observed old men! The Beach Boys are forever as is Jimmy( barefoot) Buffett (age 71), the Temptations and others. Suddenly we are geezers! LOL.
The broadcast personifies what America is today: A changing Nation. Every aspect of life is seen on the BIG SCREEN. The historic beauty of the Capital City and the Capitol manifest the mightiness of our NATION! We are one.
On the local scene Heidi And Josh Potvin's celebration on Birch Hill featured swimming for the kids, a chicken barbecue and friendship. American flags graced their estate in a true fashion. I had a chance to explain to some of the kids of who our Founding Fathers were and why. My "students" liked it! Chase said "Pops. you should be a history teacher!"
This Fourth of July was spectacular in every regard! Now it's Thursday, the 5th. Sweltering heat prevails along with high humidity. I feel like a cheeseburger in paradise!
