STARTING A SMALL BUSINESS

When you found a new business you are placing a certain faith in yourself. You do this because you desire independence. You burn all of your bridges and say "full speed ahead." I know this as I did it by scrapping an insurance career in adjusting. It was a daring move for me. I now submit ideas for budding entrepreneurs:

Look for an existing business having folks who want to retire. People get old and tired and may want "out." Recognize opportunities in existing businesses. Times change... businesses change and one dof the best in America ae Indian merchants who are gobbling up all kinds of small businesses... from convenience stores to dental practices.

There are businesses who specialize in listing and selling established small businesses. New start-ups are the most exciting, perhaps. Of course the risks, perhaps, are dangerously high. I have heard 9 out of ten small businesses fail. I think those people saying this are correct. New business owners must have a money bag to sustain themselves. Sometimes the wife works...giving two paychecks.

You will need good advisors such as an accountant and small-business lawyer. You will need some business cards to promote your business from the get-go. In certain cases you will be invited to speak at the Rotary Club or church groups. You are establishing your good will in your business. Be entertaining in your new business enterprise!

Begin to advertise your enterprise in weekly shoppers. ALWAYS PLACE YOUR AD ON THE FRONT PAGE! You should be constantly promoting your business enterprise. My latest promotion is my BLOG LICENSE PLATE...a unique undertaking. I even have it showing on my nosiness card. Look at Trumps constant promotional efforts in his bid for presidency. We all can't be Donald Trumps but surely we can be Bob Potvins or John Does.

And let your appearance aid your messages. A clean car or truck makes your statements of prosperity. You play offence in business... business is always "Good!" You will develop a ' keen sense of justice.' Be fair..The Customer Is Always Right." Keep your "reservoir of good will full in your community."

Long hours will be your reward for self-employment. Risk and reward. Ae you "open for business?" You better believe it!
