'BACK TO BOSTON"

Back to Boston was the historic homerun call of announcer Al Michaels. It was the top of the Ninth at Anaheim and the Red Sox were seeing red in their eyes. Enter slugger Dave "Hendu" Henderson ( no relation to Ricky) BAM a homerun!
Rick Gedman was on first and the rest is history. Old Gene Autry had to ride his palomino back to the ranch as the Boston Red Sox uncorked the champagne prematurely.

I was at the 1986 World Series, Game 5, Fenway as was Son Ben thanks to Dickie Fuller and Dr. Pappas. My baseball connections with the Auburn duo proved to be no less than wonderful These two men gave me privilege in 1986, 1987, 1988, 1991 and 1993." Zeke Fuller" is quite the friend and brother!

A highlight of my baseball fanaticism came in 1987 with three games in St. Louis at the World Series with my sons.

Now appearing in the New York Times is the obituary of Dave Henderson at age 57. Hendu died of a massive heart attack at a Seattle hospital. Dave Henderson gave a light-hearted  approach to the game of baseball. Henderson had less than 200 home runs with a .258 Batting Average. I don't think there's a moment in Major League Baseball History as the exhilaration of that home run. OOOPS. Enter Bill Buckner OMG for the hope of happiness in the Met World Series play  all went down the drain... but not for long.

The new Century has brought a couple of Championship Trophies "back to Boston." Now we say 'Wait til next year!... and to the Late Dave Henderson "thanks for that one brief moment back in 1986!
