BATES OBSERVATORY - FORGOTTEN
Ninety-nine percent of the North Brookfield residents don't have a clue where Bates Observatory is located! Nor do they know who Theodore C. Bates was!
More than ten years ago I failed in my attempt to see this historic property restored. Better yet there remains some $90,000 on deposit in the town's coffers. NOBODY CARES! Apathy personified!
This historic property is located on Bell Hill at the water treatment facility.
The North Brookfield community is truly missing the boat in ignoring what might have been. It is such a landmark where one can see Boston on a clear day.
