I was just visiting my family and the topic of the largest state came up. The state's size, geography and population are worth revealing. California is unto a country, with nearly 40 million souls. By contrast the state of Wyoming is a bit under 600,000. Vermont is a bit over 600,000 in population.
Texas is second in population at 27,862,596. A state like Texas is so varied from oil to cowboys. New York State is right behind Texas with a population of 19,745,289.
The Eisenhower Interstate System has brought so much of America together. It is remarkable. All of the green signage is uniform as required by law. You can log onto your cruise control "and leave the driving to us."
The Interstate System gives everyone extended freedoms. Just by traveling in your car you become educated, big time. The interconnectivity truly makes us United.
I have traveled over some of America beginning in 1960 with my Class Trip to Washington, DC. But this was only the beginning. As our highway system grew so did my ambitions to travel. to Saint Louis, MO then to Chicago... a huge city in its own regard...then down to Texas and the deep South! I guess I gave gypsy feet.
Interestingly enough, Arizona, Massachusetts, Tennessee,
Indiana, Missouri and Maryland all have populations in the six millions.
Of all America.. 50 states + D.C. add up to a population of 323,127, 513! It's time to travel, my friends...
