FIRST IN LINE OR LAST? BOTH PAY OFF

Both can pay handsome dividends as evidenced by my quest for Inaugural stuff back in 1993. As a blossoming free-lance with the local Rag I learned some valuable lessons about my life. I learned  YOU NEVER GIVE UP!
Plans in hand, and the determination of Job, I was without Inauguration credentials down the last minute.

On a cold Friday night I was reading my Auctioneer Magazine. Wouldn't you know I found  a clue! An article said "Congressman Jim Moran is a Friend of the National Auctioneers Association." Yes Sir. At 8:00 PM I found Jim's phone number in my Congressional Directory!I called and there was a voice at the other end!

"I said I'm leaving for Charlottesville in the morning. The encouraging voice  from D.C. said 'Go to the Cavalier Inn at the University." I did and asked for an envelope addresses to me! WOW. Yellow tickets for CALL FOR REUNION  insured me with  tickets to ride!

Old  Thomas Jefferson HAD COMPANY THAT WEEKEND:Bill Clinton!
Bubba and Gore arrived in separate jets. I was on the front line poised for an autograph or two. Not going to happen.

This was on January 16, 1993.

Our Nation's Capitol was full of money and celebrities notwithstanding your man from West Brookfield!

It took me until November 2, 1994 to successfully obtain Bill's signature. Yes, I was last in line for the occasion at the Portuguese-American Social Club outside of Providence.

First or last, timing is everything! I obtained the Holy Cross O'Kane Hall postcard by being first. I got to shake LBJ's hand by being first. Many folks are indifferent to life. Not me. AND to thank Congressman Moran for "coming through" I sent him a pair of gold  Holy

Cross cufflinks. Why not? "You help me.. I help you!" LOL
