The classics are far more than a series of books as I see it. Every American city and the world reveal architecture of the past. Horology, philately, numismatics in particular embrace beauty. These disciplines can tweak our thought processes.
One of my favorite is the Worcester, MA Auditorium. Also, every building in Washington, DC has charm. I have seen it in dealing in antique furniture for decades. Of recent times I have ratcheted-up my music appreciation. Sure I still like Buddy Holly and Billy Joel, and the available Light Classical gives me peace and quiet as I blog away to my heart's content.
Earlier today, while at the American Antiquarian Society, Salisbury Street, Worcester I queried about autographs and library science as a profession ( not for me but for a young lady.)
First, an incredible book printed in 1886 "The Story of a Great Nation, Or , Our Country's achievements, military, naval, political, and Civil!"This is a 5 star publication of the time. Wonderful to have the resources of the AAS.
I got guidance on the librarian profession which I'll pass on. Thanks. Also, my friend Elizabeth, Curator of Books, responded to my knock on her closed door. How lucky can I be!?
The old saying "The best things in life are free" and yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus!
