I recall being in Vietnam in the Fall of 1967 when War demonstrators in the USA rattled the world. My Australian friends and soldiers quizzed me 'What is going on in America?' I didn't know.
Vietnam is about 10,000 miles from the USA. The war was running rampant and demonstrations divided an America, then, as it is divided now.
Today's colossal demonstrations in major American cities testify to the love-hate of our New President. I don't know if this is a precursor for a long hot summer? Already, President Trump is complaining about the dearth of coverage of his Inaugural crowds! What gives? Today's issue of The New York Times,I thought was superb with the huge digital portrayals of all the ceremonies.
I look forward to tomorrow's issue of THE SUNDAY TIIMES FOR MORE THAN ONE REASON. The news of this day swill blindside President Trump plus there may be another feature article on The Vietnam War?
As the old saying goes "Nothing is new under the sun"
and I have a feeling the famed Carpenter's song "WE'VE ONLY JUST BEGUN" may just be another wave of "Democracy at Large " to roil our American souls in unrest? Let's hope not!
