THE DEMISE OF TRADITIONALWRISTWATCHES

Wristwatches came out of World War I. Strapped clocks to the wrists of pilots brought about the need for telling time. Prior to this, pocket watches were stored in a tiny pouch in the front of men's trousers. As the watch industry evolved, fashion and ingenuity saw Rolex and Omegas surge.

Enter the Smartwatch about 2013 things changed overnight. Traditional wristwatches began loosing favor. Further, the smartphone has a digital display of time and other features like a stopwatch.

Since 1980 I have dealt in hundreds of mostly men's gold pocket watches. Hunting case gold watches were usually cast in 14k gold. The most I ever sold a watch for was $4,000... a Patek Phillipe men's and $1,400 for a 14k gold pocket watch. Recent press releases showed how a watch fetched $300,000!

To the point, Richard B. Johnson "invested" in over 20 brand new Fossil wrist watches and much to his chagrin learned there is no interest or value!

The time is ubiquitous. From the clock on our VCR's to clocks on our auto's dashboard and all the rest, mechanisms for telling the time abound. It's all about supply and demand.! Notice the "fashions of the wrist" to learn more. Very  interesting!
