me to grow up. I was a lonely cowboy at age 20. I found solace off campus hanging around Lou's Tobacco Shop. Located on Olive Street at Grand, Lou Marcus and I clicked.Eventually Lou gave me aa Friday night job. It was the I got my education befriending dregs of society. It was there I learned compassion for my fellow man.

The trolley car gave me freedom for a 10cents fare.

Everything about living in Mid-Town Saint Louis was different from the stench of the Stockyards to flat land. I missed home! I endured the change and wanted to quit and go home but I didn't. I wanted to be somebody.

Some of the Jesuits were staid in there persona.St. Louis is a Catholic University. I had no bearing in where I was going. First it was the Institute of Technology of which I bailed out. The College of Arts and Sciences was more my cup of tea. I persevered.

As Spring came along I discovered Forest Park.. a great place to drink beer with co-eds.Don Tasto had a Lambretta motor scooter which I borrowed. I made it through my first year with virtually all Cs. Then onto Mount Washington

Famed Cog Railway   I worked as a cook in the old hotel!
