COMMON CENTS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

It was one of the most informative coin shows since 1980! Seventy-five dealers proudly shared their offerings with yours truly. As I have been at the hobby since 1955 I looked for "something special" and I found it. Two dealers shared their Seated Liberty  and Barber Quarter collections. In particular were Trade Dollars. We were given a small presentation which I thoroughly enjoyed.

TRADE DOLLARS to me means Vietnam. I recall seeing Vietnamese  street vendors offering them for $60! Lots of money in 1967. I was fearful of buying a FAKE so I bought a French Piastre instead. I looked for one today but didn't find one to my liking.

The Barber Quarter specialist showed a complete collection of Barber Quarters. "It took me 15 years to complete this set."

Money was coming out of the 75 dealers ears! The $1,000 Bill and $500 rang my chimes. I couldn't answer the door.

The absolute winner was a strip of $2.00 Warren Harding stamps from the Presidential Series of 1938! I have never seen such a beauty of Mint Scotts 833. To kill for.

I took mu advice to travel cross country to Manchester. It was fun and 80 miles each way. Saw a couple of Dealers, Dave and Bob lots of friendly numismatists.

A super-treat came at a Dollar General in Fitchburg. Newsstand copy of BILLY JOEL $13,99 for Son Ben and The Latest National Enquirer! The title reads "'OSWALD WORKED FOR THE CIA" plus on page 2 a neat pix of Billy Joel and spanking new REMY ANNE!

A Vietnam Veteran (twice my size, perhaps) went wild when he saw me purchase the Enquirer. He blames JFK for "starting the war and killing 22 of my friends." The guy went wild (Gadfly LOL.)

The entire Friday was a great way to start November. Big moon tonight...Set the clocks back tomorrow and be sure to attend  THE WEST BROOKFIELD CHURCH FAIR TOMORROW( Sat Nov 4) BEGINNING AT 9:00 am.
