A PORTION OF MY LETTER TO PRESIDENT JOHNSON AS A DRAFTEE

September 17, 1966

Dear Mr. President:

"As a draftee  I write to let you know how pleased I am with the training the Army is giving me. I consider the schooling to be college level and very valuable to me as an individual. In turn I pledge to do my best as a soldier and as a citizen......"

ONE YEAR, NINE MONTHS AND TWO DAYS PROVED TO BE AN ADVENTURE FOR ME.I was trained to be a Medic, 91p20, took x-rays, achieved E-5 rank. I was Soldier-of-The-Month - 36th Evac. Hospital and 68th Medical Group, but most of all I served my Country.

I never felt guilty for doing, what I felt,  was

the right thing.
