KENNEDY INAUGURATION BLIZZARD JAN 20, 1961

From my Memoirs.....

"Today is January 20, 1961, Inauguration Day for John F. Kennedy. At the present time there is about 8 inches of new snow from this historic blizzard. The temperature is zero degrees and the wind is blowing a Gale at 40 mph.(I had a Cape Cod anemometer in my bedroom.)

This is truly a historic storm."

P.S. "As a postscript to the above I would like to add that this is one of the greatest blizzards I have ever seen - approximately 20 inches of new snow. The temperature did not rise above 4 degrees F all day and the winds of 40 mph are just starting to subside."

N.B. Francis T. Lee and Senator Phil Quinn of Massasoit Hotel fame traveled to D.C. for the gala celebration. Snow removal in  the Capital City was incredible.. 18" of the white stuff. Lee told me in later years JFK waved to him as the parade went by. Lee and Quinn stayed at the Willard Hotel
