THE WORCESTER TORNADO JUNE 9, 1953 - WINDS OF 335 MPH

According to Wikipedia and other sources, The Worcester Tornado was tantamount to all other meteorological occurrences. I was a boy of ten and remember it well.  This monstrous wind lasted 98 minutes traveling 48 miles being spawned in Petersham at 4:25pm  in the afternoon It's subsequent rating was a F-4 on the Fujita Scale.


The tornado's path traversed through the towns of Rutland, Holden, Shrewsbury and Westborough. Hail stones fell the size of baseballs. Ten thousand people were left homeless. Assumption College's buildings took the brunt of the tempest leveling them. like match sticks.


10,000 citizens were injured.. JFK appeared to size up things. Bishop Wright played a pivotal role in leadership. The Worcester Tornado was perhaps the biggest catastrophe  of all times s
