WORCESTER'S FLOWERING FLORA 2017

It was such a delight to be received on this frosty morning by Mrs. Frost, Manager of Marketing at the Worcester Art Museum! The concept of touring the halls with hung masters is surreal when the hands of man, woman and nature collide in resplendent beauty and joy.. graced the milling  by fine art connoisseurs. "We want to connect with people." Mrs. Frost relates. "We are the living room of Worcester" in HDTV and it shows! Folks are encouraged to "join in." The red carpet at the Worcester Art Museum is always welcome and the WAM wants people 'to feel at home."








I have a couple of first hand experiences with the WAM. First, I handled an ornately carved Victorian leather upholstered bench donated by Lena fury in the early 80s. It is one a kind and worth reviewing again. Second, I handled an oil painting for a North Brookfield estate. My gut reaction was this is truly a high quality canvas.




I sought counsel with retired director of the WAM, Jim Welu who coached me into the stratosphere of fine art. It worked and I thank Jim to this day.






My day has been full of glory. After leaving Worcester and a four piece of chicken nuggets at Wendy's I got my dry cleaning out of hock from Toy's in Spencer  then went to my favorite bookstore: The Salvation Army. Bingo!
In line with the Art Museum comes a fantastic text book of 1936: STYLES OF ORNAMENT. This book covers everything from Stonehenge to all the familiar ORNAMENTS... to include Babylonian, Greek, Etruscan, Roman, Celtic, Spanish, English, Russian, Rococo, French and more.




I get excited about all this as it ties in with my discipline of Estate Auctioneer. You must be a Jack of All Trades and master of many to make life's pieces fit. That is why I am everywhere, all the time keeping, busy and happy for the most part.Why not? I'll be 74.5 on Sunday! LOL. OMG....SOS!


Finally, 'The Royal Wedding" of William and Kate is a 100 page magazine for my two Princesses, Lily and Maddie. Kids must be instructed in the ways of our English Heritage. GW did not want to be a king. The gilded array of The Crown is good for us plebeians... although I love antique Rolls Royce motor cars!




Do yourselves a favor and stop by and see 'Flora'...she's colorful and redolent! Your presence will help the Museum raise some funds.
