PRESIDENTIAL AUTOGRAPHS - 2017

Suddenly Donald J. Trump' signature may be worth hundreds and then some! My experiences in being an Autograph Hound  are fun, looking back!

There once was a lady from North Brookfield, say 100 years ago, that proved to be a "Hound-ess. Triphosa Bates Batchellor was adept is obtaining autographs of politicians. Ms. Bates-Batchellor kept an Autograph Book which may be in the custody of the North Brookfield Historical Museum's keeping? Back then signatures were about quill pens and inkwells. Today, Sharpies and sharp minds mine autographs. I am a miner!

In my 50 plus years of autograph enthusiasms I have "scored"
with LBJ, Clinton and Bush-the old man..

Autographs go with FAME!

Some politicians are easier than others. Same with sport fans and opera singers. Signatures run the gamut. BUT collectors must beware of  facsimile  creations. Not all signatures are created equal. Forgeries abound, everywhere.

Two of the most exciting authentic autographs came from Jackie Kennedy several months before her death. "TO THE DEGREE YOU GIVE OTHER PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT.. WILL THEY GIVE YOU WHAT YOU WANT." I did and Jackie did! My friend, the Late Irving England had an autographed B & W photo of JFK. Judge Igoe delivered it to Irv one snowy Christmas evening. 30 years later I deemed the signature as a "fake."

Further, President Bush, in his defeat just loved getting letters from me. Why, I don't know. Maybe 5 or 6 authentic signings made it to Box 808. 01585. I know they were real as Alexander Autographs bought them all! Selling them is part of my shtick.

Now, to the point of presidential autographs...Old Harry Truman is quoted saying "The President may sign up to 600 times a day." A certain realtor in West Brookfield claims she sent aa birthday card to LBJ and received a response. Never saw it!

Obama sent me two signed pictures. One for me and one for Chase! It took a year to arrive. Not authentic!

It's going to be interesting to see how many Trump's scribbles "come out of the woodwork." My autograph technique is simple....GET IT IN PERSON!

Also, if you are lucky enough to see Trump in person ASK HIM FOR A PRESIDENTIAL SIGNATURE CARD. It is a facsimile bearing his executive scribble! I saw a kid ask Bush for his autograph and Bush grabbed one of his cards out of his suitcoat pocket. I asked of Bubba for one and he signed and dates page 3 of his speech.

You can be sure the Trumps will be getting writer's cramps before the party is over.

The most important thing in autograph action I having FUN!
