The reality of being a soldier is summarized in a note found in my Fort Knox yearbook:
" You have proven your mettle in the crucible of basic training. The officers and enlisted men of your cadre are proud of you. As a soldier, walk with pride, for you are now responsible for the reputation, tradition and history of the finest ARMY in the world."

Becoming a soldier was a becoming, one step at a time. DISCIPLINE is the word. You stand tall.. you obey orders.. you are physically fit. Military life brings out the best in you.You learn supreme independence traveling around the globe and observing the hot spots needing you!
You see the World in 3- D. You learn different cultures. There's no language barrier in the Army. Being a soldier is your language... foul or correct. FTA! Fun travel and adventure or F*** the Army!
"Vietnam", in reality, was just another war. The history of mankind is war!
"Good Guy..Bad Guy!"
Listen to Billy Joel sing "We Didn't Start The Fire" for a great review of the times.
"Paradise is found beneath the shadow of the swords."
For those who missed serving your Country, I feel sorry for you..
