On April 10, 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the CCC..the Civilian Conservation Corps! Thanks to "Holly Librarian" the following info is set forth about the fames CCC Camp. West Brookfieled's Chick Chase admitted in working in such a camp in Vermont! My father, Joseph E. trained in East Brookfield for the Mass. State Guard during WWII. I wore cloth diapers back then.
"Roosevelt's Tree Army" was just what thedoctor ordered. It was open to unemployed, unmarried male citizens between the ages of 18 and 26. "All recruits had to be healthy, and were expected to perform hard physical labor. Blacks were PLACED INDE-FACTOSEGREGATED CAMPS... ENLISTMENT IN THE PROGRAM WAS FOR A MINIMUM OF 6 MONTHS. Participants were paid $30.00 a month.
The training in a CCC Camp was a precursor to military conscription for WII. The CCC employed over 3 million men. They built bridges and campground facilities.
"The CCC is considered by many to be one of the most enduring and successful New Deal Programs."
Today's reality is millennials are perfect for the occasion! DISCIPLINE IS THE ANSWER.. the only answer! When I am elected this will be my first charge to resurrect CCC Camps 2018 in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Your Honeymoon is over boys an girls. GROW UP AND GET A LIFE AND FLY RIGHT! You can count on learning to tie your shoes, getting your hair cut off and shedding your baby fat.
As an Army Draftee in 1966 I learned how productive military training really is. THE PARTY IS OVER!
