Seek and ye shall find! On this Sunday I visited the BOOK BEAR in West Brookfield, MA. Today is the last day of 35% off all inventory. Hey, I was game. My first find was "A Report Of The Warren Commission On The Assassination of President Kennedy. My first copy went to My Friend Edison a couple of years ago Today I purchased my own copy. It Is The New York Times Edition... all 726 pages.
Next I asked the Book Bear (Al N) what he had of 'The Civil War'. He admitted to having a pair "of oversized books" in the back room. I bought a collection of Henry Ford titles a year ago. Today, I was offered a pair of "HARPER"S PICTORIAL HISTORY of the CIVIL WAR" at a reduced price of $50 for the pair. These two books compliment my recent purchases. We all must remember antique books are vulnerable. However the artwork found between the two covers is exquisite.
When I was a boy just learning about lithographed images I learned what it was all about. Then, as an auctioneer I appreciated the real deal.Wendemuth's Estate Auction was a dream come true and others. Now I am enjoying life with these finds.
I guess I gotta cool my jets and educate myself in the ways of U.S. History. If I hadn't learned about this 60 years ago I would have never recognized things today.Learn your U.S. History my friends and seek treasures!
