Ray Conniff and Singers lead the way, I think. His album WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS came out in 1962 and HERE WE COME A CAROLING HIT IN 1965. Conniff's music sets the tone everywhere from Salvation Army Kettle folks to High Rolling Office Parties.
